An overreaction regarding Eriksen tonight IMO. Yes he was dogshit but I'd be surprised if he had a performance that bad again any time soon, plus I'd personally pick him over Lucas and Dele to start as I think if he plays any bit near as well as we know he can he'll provide a lot to the team.

I would probably pick your team but like a few others have mentioned, Dier in the team may be pivotal as we look way too open at times and we need someone to sit in front of the defence, I'm just not sure I could see Dier starting over Sissoko or Ndombele at the moment. Winks is currently our best CM.
You may have point if yesterdays performance was a one off, but it wasn't. So its not an over reaction where others like me want him to be dropped. You would be surprised if he had another performance like that (your quote), but I am not holding my breath.

Yes, this is it.
No opportunity to drop Eriksen, we don't have any option at the moment.
Who would people prefer? Dele? Ndombele? They are even worse these days.
Bad against Olympiacos, but we had it going against Palace, just have to hope the mojo is back for Leicester.
I'd have him sit out Colchester mid week though.

So you are saying Dele and Ndombele were worse than Eriksen today,......yeah, right. You are also saying we do not have any other option than him,...... yeah, right. People like you buy into the misconception that we cannot do without him.

Sitting Eriksen might not be a popular decision, but for this game it might be best for him and the players. I think it sends the wrong message to Christian and the other lads trotting him out there after what was an atrocious display today. It was clearly him and a few others Poch was referring to after the game, with regards to disrespecting his tactics and not having the right mental attitude. They need to see that players are rewarded for incompetence and indifference. He also needs to know it wasn’t good enough.

Maybe that will fire him up and get the others to focus. Or not. Time will tell.

For what it’s worth, I think Poch needs to try something different this weekend.

Drop eriksen, ndombele looked shattered so bring him on 2nd half, ease Dele back in.

Tell lamela and son to stick wide, we need width in our attacking play not from our defenders.

Our defence needs protecting and our midfield has been over run of late (palace aside ) so bring dier into the mix and make that his job from a few seasons ago.
And also tell Kane to be our target man to play into and feed the balls out to our wide players rather than dropping deep to be the go to man from defence

I dont think dropping Eriksen for this particular game is the right idea as this type of game suits him.

Infact I'll be irritated if hes dropped for this one as it feels like Poch has got him on the wrong track of games for what hes best suited to he's gone:

Bench vs villa
Start vs city
Bench vs newcastle
Start vs arsenal
Start vs palace
Start vs olympiakos

Now for me given his skillset it should be start vs villa, newcastle and bench vs city and olympiakos, if he benches him vs Leicester then we pretty much continue the cycle.

I think Poch will pick the same team vs Palace.

Eriksen was brutal last night but I'd argue that they all could've been affected by the heat. It was 27 degress at kick off and likely far warmer than that at pitch side.

It's not excuses, more trying to understand what went wrong. Eriksen, Ndombele and Alli all looked gassed to me with the latter 2 coming back from injury.

The possible upside to this Leicester game is that they will want to play. It will be an open game and we'll thrive off of that in attack. It will all come down to whether we can actually produce some sort of defensive display. We've been riding our luck a bit and desperately need a CDM.

Eriksen needs to be dropped

People that disagree.. how can you justify to players on the fringes that Eriksen wont be dropped

If your CE you will think fuck me even after my worst game I'm still starting. He needs to be dropped. If he isnt he will need to be told he owes us a motm performance

Ndomble needs game time but geez I wouldn't start with him, really not fit enough yet for the PL, maybe give him the last 20 mins

I appreciate you disagreeing and at least explaining why you do :D

My feelings are that it was a one off in consideration with just how bad he was. We all know he's had some not up to scratch performances recently but I've never seen him quite that bad I don't think and giving the ball away so much. I just think people who want him 'nowhere near' the team will most likely end up regretting that wish. If Lucas, Dele and Kane were all playing great it would be different. I'd still take an underperforming Eriksen over an underperforming Dele, for example.

It's not so much that I think Eriksen shouldn't be dropped, it's more so that I don't quite have faith in the people who would step in for him to give more of a positive influence over the team.

We need Eriksen for this. But the message should be clear, if he underperforms again he's out of the team and it's up to him to regain his spot.

If Poch is cute with this he could use to our advantage, might see a top drawer performance from Eriksen on Saturday.

'cute'? Why does it have to come to that though?

Sick of the pussy footing around Sony. He's a well paid professional who plays for a bloody good team and if that's not enough motivation than putting yourself in the shop window by playing 101% should be. Get the fuck out there and play, man!

Argh... I was really sanguine last night now I'm just pissed off. Gonna be another season of being mercurial and hoping the quality we have gets us over the line.
