Another low block team. Going to be a real struggle & a nightmare on set prices.
Could be a game for Dragusin at the back & Odobert for Johnson.

They didnt look tnat low block last season when I as at the game.

Suspect it will be different this time round, similar to what City faced at the weekend.
Luckily for us, they are without Wissa, although that will probably mean they are even more defensive.

What happened to Wissa?

With Moore getting minutes. It’s time to integrate him.

Kulu has not played RW all year, including preseason. I think he is a CM now.
I know but I figure with Brentford likely playing the lowest of low blocks I’d rather have another creative player and let Porto play wider.

I can’t see anyone running in behind , Brentford won’t let us

Team for Coventry-

Vicario

Spence
Dragusin
VDV
Udogie

Gray
Bentancur (Bissouma if he’s fit)
Bergvall

Kulusevski
Solanke
Odobert

No player in there that I don’t feel can be trusted to perform at a high enough level to make this still comfortable. Johnson has earned a spot on the bench for a while for me and Odobert looks much more comfortable on the left. I’d be excited to see what Gray and Bergvall can do and I feel that midfield 3 has enough physicality and technique to dominate Coventry.

----------Vicario---------
----Dragusin----VDV-------
Porro------Romero--------Udogie
-----Bissouma--Bergvall------
------------Kulu-------
-------Solanke---Son

Our stupid stupid transfer window failed to provide the most basic of tools for our main way of playing.

So accept that our wingers aren't going to create diddly 1v1, and use Porro and Udogie for width.

A 3421 that can change into a 433 or 442 Diamond during the match.

Dragusin is top class and also improves us at set pieces at both ends. Romero pinging passes and free to defend aggressively without isolating VDV.

Bissouma and Bergvall to alternate in dropping deep to beat the press and dictate play, making us less predictable and more fluid.

Kulu central. Son instructed to play closer and link with Solanke, run in behind or take shots.

Son was never a conventional winger. He always made diagonal runs towards the box, or cut inside to shoots or play through balls.

Keep him away from the build up, let Solanke do that as he's great at it, and let Son the best ball striker in Europe have an f-ing shot at goal.

Has he had a shot this season? It's insane.

No matter what the result tonight, I’d like to see

Vicario
Porro dragusin vdv udogie
Gray
Kulusevski maddison
Johnson Solanke odobert

if odobert is injured then start Moore
Not desperate or play Maddison if I’m honest but I don’t want gray and Bissouma on the pitch as it’s too defensive. Maybe it would be better balanced I don’t know

Would absolutely be down with Porro as a winger, given he is the only player we have that can cross whatsover with any regular quality. But absolutely we'd miss him playing inside and his tenacity at getting back, which not convinced Spence would be quite as good at. If only we could bisect him into Pedro and Porro and have them cover the whole right side.

Having said that, our problems at the moment aren't coming from defensive quality of a full back, so I'd absolutely try him out up top, but we never, never will.
