So Villa away on the weekend of the 8th means our match will be on the 9th (at the earliest). We play the Carabao 2nd leg on the 6th. Not a lot of turnaround time and Villa will have the week off beforehand. That’s a massive week in our season and so we really need reinforcements back in time (plus a couple of new additions you would hope).

If Villa don’t finish in the top 8 of their CL league stage, I think they will have their play-off game that week, so they may well have a game in the lead-up to our match, too. Just need to hope they don't qualify automatically.

Edit: I am wrong, their first leg would be that proceeding week, so they’d be rested but absolutely have an eye on that fixture.

We will need to prioritise accordingly in the cups. League cup is top of the list especially after the 1st leg, then EL then FA cup.

We don't have a midweek game after Villa so it would be good of the FA to do the right thing and move our game to the Monday, but fat chance of them actually putting any thought in to the fixture schedule.

If we don't finish in the Top 8 of the Europa League, we'll have a playoff the following Thursday. 4 points from Hoffenheim and Elfsborg would probably avoid that, 6 points definitely would. Equally Villa could have a Champions League playoff, which rules out the Monday night slot. The only time they can play it is on Sunday, unless they do a date conditional on UCL results thing which I think is unlikely.

Brentford away on the 2nd, so that's going to be a nasty week. We don't have a midweek game after Villa so it would be good of the FA to do the right thing and move our game to the Monday, but fat chance of them actually putting any thought in to the fixture schedule.

If we somehow get through the Liverpool second leg with a positive result I wont be nearly as bothered if we lose against Villa. The nightmare would be getting knocked out of the two domestic cups in 3 days.
2nd leg at Anfield is potentially season and career defining for Ange so this must be the highest priority. Fingers crossed we get a bunch of players by then and a stronger squad post the window closing to go there and really take it to Liverpool. A date at Wembley would really lift the mood around the place at the minute and if we go all the way and win it, well that could mark proper lift off of the Ange era!!

Didn't realise that, just assumed it was a "free" week. That adds another layer of shit to the situation then.

Without tempting fate I think both teams will finish top 8 in their respective competitions, but I get that the FA Cup dates will be decided long before the final EL/CL tables.

Yep, could actually work out in our favour, as UEFA is normally obstinate with dates and won't move them around the domestic calendar* - so they might have a crucial Champions League knockout tie on the Tuesday after playing us on the Sunday.

*England is the only major league which still plays a League Cup, and UEFA would like us to stop doing that and/or reduce the PL down to 18 teams, so they've got an incentive to be arses about it.

Late to the party but i think we had 5/6 ok performances yesterday, hamstrung by 4/5 really awful (like up there with the worst i have ever seen in some cases) ones which led to a pretty desperate performance.

Got through though, which was the main thing, and rekindled a bit of Cup magic in the meantime.

Personally I enjoy a bit of banter but on this occasion I reckon they were a bunch of arseholes and I doubt many of them were Tamworth fans, we'll probably see most of them at Villa park next round.
Actually that would explain them being arseholes.
