Too many Nancy boys in our team I’m afraid. They don’t like it up them😅
How often have we ever done it against shit opposition our boys hardly ever turn up our bench players or second string virtually never show up to take their chances .

I don't think it's at the local Power League mate :D
It also was almost certainly not as nice an artificial surface as our club's training pitches though. Tamworth's total invest for their stadium (including the playing surface) probably cost less than we budgeted for our cheese room. 🤣

This is bollocks. It's very much on the manager as well. When he's stood there watching it happen for 90 minutes and changes nothing that's down to him.
He didn’t change nothing. He brought on Solanke. That change alone should have won us the game as Werner should have scored and Johnson probably also. Maybe he is also using games like this to judge the character and mentality of players. There were quite a few who failed that test.

If he doesn't know the character of his senior players after watching us for 18 months mate it's definitely a lost cause. I don't believe that is the case at all.

I properly don't care how we played - we won, that's all that matters.

We're forever failing to turn up in tricky cup games. The difference is this time we found a way to win, rather than get ****ed by an 86th minute opposition winner as is so often the case.

Next round here we come.

Can't agree, I mean this was a non league side for goodnesss sake and we have some players especially in the front 3 cruising their way through. I am glad he left most of them out there for as long as possible to try and dig themselves out of it and not quite true he did nothing as he did bring on Bergvall and Solanke on 68 minutes.

There is also the small matter of a NLD just days away and he would have been keen to ensure his big guns who have been run into the ground recently played as little as possible so they can be fresher for that one.

I don’t believe you are a big fan of the manager and nothing he does will change that.
Which is fine.

It doesn't even have to be about shit teams though. We have a reputation for decades of being "fancy dans". Give us a chance to show up against the big boys and we are well up for it. Anyone not in the top 6 or so should just let us win, so we don't turn up (and lose).

Im confused as to what alternative there was for Ange yesterday? He played a strong 11 whilst giving our better performers over recent week some rest in areas where we have some rotation options.

tactical set up? Were we supposed to study footage of Tamworth and adjust?

we got through, those I expected to be poor were poor and beyond our core 2/3 forward players we look very average going forward.

I knew all of this going into the game, I assume the manager and board do and hopefully we rectify some of it in Jan.

we are now fairly rested for weds, whilst the gooners have Jesus injured and got dumped out. I’d say a good day at the office all round.

You are right however yesterday was an altogether new low in my book. It could be understandable that a low in confidence Werner and Johnson might struggle against top tier opposition so yesterday was an opportunity for both of them to step up and show some personal responsibility, intent and pride. To turn in that type of performance against that quality opposition to the extent that it could have cost us a place in the next round is almost criminal. The implications are far reaching in that young players like Dorrington and Lankshear that would have got an opportunity to come on if we took control of the game early were then denied one and we consequently end up having to put more running in the legs of Solanke, Bergvall, Son and Kulu ahead of the NLD.

I would love to see the club show some leadership and bring this Werner nightmare to an end. Would likely mean we have to cough up some dough to help him get another loan move elsewhere as no one in their right minds would pay £165k a week for him. Whatever it takes I personally don't want to see him in a Spurs shirt again as it must be demoralising to share a dressing room with such a so called senior pro on massive dough that is not willing/able to put in a proper shift.

Johnson on the other hand is a whole different kettle of fish. Really struggling with this lad at the minute

At the end of the day we’ve had worse results in the FA Cup and every top club have too. The only difference is that Tamworth didn’t get the replay they deserved and a massive payday - only to then get smashed by the big boys. That’s how it used to work. If the little club progressed they called it a giant killing and the magic of the cup. In the meantime we’ve confirmed a lot of fears about certain players and confirmed a lot of potential from others. Useful - and now we kick on to a proper familiar game against opposition we should fear for completely different reasons to Tamworth.

It was a classic cup tie where a big team goes to a small club and can't adjust to the difference in levels. Our lads won't be used to small grounds and crappy surfaces where the opposition are a bunch of cloggers and you can hear every individual conversation in the crowd. The likes of Porro trying to take a throw in with a couple of blokes right in his ear going "you're shit mate" or whatever... simply not used to it and unable to concentrate on their game.

Always happens in these games, it what makes them fun and why you always get giant killings.

So Villa away on the weekend of the 8th means our match will be on the 9th (at the earliest). We play the Carabao 2nd leg on the 6th. Not a lot of turnaround time and Villa will have the week off beforehand. That’s a massive week in our season and so we really need reinforcements back in time (plus a couple of new additions you would hope).

Brentford away on the 2nd, so that's going to be a nasty week. We don't have a midweek game after Villa so it would be good of the FA to do the right thing and move our game to the Monday, but fat chance of them actually putting any thought in to the fixture schedule.

If we somehow get through the Liverpool second leg with a positive result I wont be nearly as bothered if we lose against Villa. The nightmare would be getting knocked out of the two domestic cups in 3 days.
