It looked like they were shit scared of the occasion from the off. That team really needs some (more)mental conditioning. just so weak. We looked embarrassed when we’d won

Maddison was ok for 20 minutes. Johnson Porro meh.

Werner I just don’t get. Nothing there.

The thing I am struggling with when it comes to Lankshear is he was good enough to start away in EL games - he did well enough, even with the red card - yet hes deemed not good enough to start today against a non league side.

without getting into Werner, at least Lankshear is our player and it's about his development if he plays.

I think that there is a "right mix" it's one that does not feature Werner.

Resting players is all well and good, and boy do we need to do that, but if Lankshear, Dorrington can't get minutes against a team such as Tamworth, then what future do they have under Ange?
Perhaps that was Ange's plan to get the younger players minutes once the game was secure which if the front three played properly it should have been given the gulf in class. Unfortunately the likes of Werner and Johnson were so passive and lacking hunger and intent that it turned into a different type of game that then meant the big guns were needed to secure the result in the end. It is a difficult situation with Werner because here we have a so called international player being paid £165k a week and is so undependable it is unreal. At least we have the comfort knowing that he will be gone for good in the summer unless Leipzig manage to mug him off to someone else in January.

Johnson is the bigger concern for me. Yes he had a moment and scored again but his consistent lack of meaningful contribution over the course of games is alarming. He should be embarrassed seeing young Mikey Moore on the other side coming back from a long layoff and straight into the thick of the action constantly showing for the ball and getting involved as much as possible whilst he hangs out on the opposite touchline overhitting crosses or playing simple safe passes to his fullback or into midfield. We all keep willing him on to show more but to turn in that type of performance against a non league side is really appalling.

Tbh that’s what happens when you get the ball into a decent area at that level. We just have hardly done that today
No real presence in the box, especially in the 1st half with Werner at CF - Langshear would have had more presence. To be honest that’s one of the reasons we struggle to score goals; we just don’t get enough bodies in the box.

Yep have to say he’s been fantastic and really stood up today.

Kinsky, Reggie, Gray, Dragusin all done ok. Moore did ok. Bergvall has been excellent.

Johnson & Werner please stay in Tamworth.
No mention of Maddison who in the first half, especially, was our only creative and goal scoring threat. Much more muted in the second half.

An odd game, as expected. If you can't enjoy the old "magic of the cup" in the 3rd round especially, in a game like that, then football isn't for you.
Obviously, we'd all have liked to win in 90, but we won.
Nobody got injured, which was priority 2, and not a given on that pitch in those temperatures against a side who (whilst not dirty per se) were bound to out in some robust challenges.

Looked pretty clear that Spurs were playing in 2nd gear, not exerting too much energy or risking energy (would be interesting to see the stats).

Really no point getting worked up. We didn't get embarrassed. We won. Credit to Tamworth for giving it a good go.

I think the performance says a lot about the mentality of most of our players, the quality and depth of the squad and the manager also has to take some responsibility. It's mostly been unprofessional.
Not sure what the performance has got to do with the manager. That starting 11 should have been good enough to beat a National League side. The manager can’t play the game for them. That’s down to the player’s personal responsibility and pride.

What's the point of having a manager at all then? Are you saying the manager can have no influence at all and that another manager couldn't have done anything differently or better?

It was a pretty shit performance, we weren’t really under pressure, pretty controlled on a tough pitch.

into the next round.

I don’t recall us going through rounds that often in recent years to be honest, so yeah, 3-0 in the end, some poor individual performances.

fair play to Tamworth though, played out of their skins!

In the end it's become something of a stroll. Possibly a combination of tiredness from Tamworth and the introduction of some quality from the bench. If anything, the first 90 minutes was perhaps as conclusive an indictment as to the strength of our squad as you can get.

Poor 90 minutes but at the end of the day, we're in the hat for the next round so job done and move on.
Sums up the game nicely.

This is bollocks. It's very much on the manager as well. When he's stood there watching it happen for 90 minutes and changes nothing that's down to him.
