Takeover talk

The newspapers say we're going to miss out on players we don't want or need, so people have escalated things to the fiction section and are having panic attacks for basically no reason.
I get frustration and can understand voicing it but I don't get the melt down in every thread. This didn't need bumping.

Take with a large pinch of salt but a pal who has good connections with the club has heard there is a strong chat circulating of a sale to an American buyer/s and that it could happen quite soon. They’re digging for more but be interesting to see if anything else emerges, might all be hearsay! Just passing on in good faith!

Ugh, I hope not. FSG aside, American owners have an awful record with English football clubs. Liverpool were nearly bankrupted, United have been bled dry, Villa, Sunderland, Fulham and Swansea all relegated due to the mismanagement of American owners, Arsenal have become a joke since the yanks took over there too.

I really can’t see ENIC moving aside after all the work they’ve done, especially now the big bucks are about to roll in.

Saw the interview with Karren Brady yesterday 10 years CEO at West Ham. I think I’m right in saying she also owns part of club or has some sort of stake. So bar transfers she basically fulfills same role as Levy. Really made me realise be careful what you wish for.

I would imagine the rumour mill is constantly buzzing around the staff now the stadium is built. I'd imagine the optimum time to sell now would be once the stadium naming deal is done. Max commercial value achieved, stadium built, big name manager in place etc.

Would also explain our sudden interest in loan signings.

Depends on the potential buyers. For instance, if it were a Middle East state, having no naming rights signed would be an easy way for them to inject some cash into the club a la City.

Maybe they’ll give it a few more years and see if a NFL franchise is possible? Not quite sure how that would work though with a takeover..

I'm not sure we're that viable as an investment anymore, what's our worth? £800m-£1b? Knowing levy he'll want over £1b and then the new owner will still have to navigate the stadium debt plus proper investment in the team, and there's no guarantee that we'll win things with City and Pool dominating. How long would it take for a new owner to make their money back?

Indeed. It would require someone with ridiculously deep pockets as we're almost becoming too big. I can only imagine what Levy and Lewis would want for their stakes in the club.

Instantly, as the club would probably retain its value in the very short-term and probably grow in value in the long term.

The club would be a valuable asset on an owner's spreadsheet. Plus they could take money out of the club if they wanted, year to year. Just because you've paid £2b cash, doesn't mean your net worth as a company or individual has gone down by £2b.

I would imagine there are, or will be, companies and people, perhaps with experience in sports entertainment, who see a London based club in the PL as a safe-haven to park their cash.

Whether they'd care about success on the pitch is another question.
