I don't get why this group would do this for publicity, not buying it for a second. They are already a major company with alot of assets

I don't think Cain Hoy group did it for publicity, though I don't think they wanted to buy us either.

Cain Hoy clearly benefited from the publicity as they were just starting up and that helped them get so attention

I'm all for it. I'd like to be on the same page as the "elites" for once. :)

Seriously though, I think one thing The Carlyle Group would ensure is success. Such consortia/groups are not in the habit of failing.

COYTCG. Get it done.

Happy to see I was correct about the price tag, that it's 1bn DOLLARS not pounds as reported earlier this year. Also interesting to see that Lewis could consider 500M pounds. That doesn't sound too inflated. Lastly, I like the idea of keeping Levy under new ownership.
Agree, I want to see levy under new ownership who is willing to pay the bill for world class player.

Collomossee was just on talksport with Alan Brazil, basically saying that there is definitely an interest, but he's not sure if it will go over the line. Hardly earth shattering but does back up what's been written

I, as many on here have stated, smell the pungent aroma of BS in the air. It just seems a little too convenient for this story to be leaked when a distraction from the teams performance is needed.

BUT what if it wasn't rubbish and really happened. Just let me dream of a new stadium with top drawer players inside it. Ah ..................... lovely isn't it. 35 years of support and I can still dream. That's why we keep coming back.

Alan sugar has just said on talk sport that a take over is complete rubbish, and it's just a ploy to gain publicity.

I can't see the point in switching from one group that see's us an investment profit making vehicle to another?

Maybe one group has more money and is willing to put money into the business to grow it, rather than just run it into the ground as a cash cow to line their own pockets a la ENIC.

You can't deny ENIC have invested in a training ground and have bought up 99% of the land around the stadium to build or get someone else to build a new stadium. That is progress. Although we don't net spend recently we do seem reinvest most or all of the money we get in into new players. If they were sucking cash out of the club, they would have lined their pockets with the Bale money and ran off into the sunset.

Their out point is when their investment in the club hits a certain point and they can make a profit on selling us. This is exactly what any other investment vehicle will look to do. They might invest in some new players and try to go for the next level but they will be competing with arsenal, manchester utd, manchester city and chelsea who all have more money to burn than 99% of any investors that would look at us.

So many clubs have had some rich dick come in and try to buy their way to success for it to fall in their face. Malaga and Anzhi to name but two, you could include Birmingham, Portsmouth, QPR and Liverpool under Hicks and Gillette.

Run it into the ground? Cash Cow?

We've spent around £150m on our team in the last couple of years. The fact that Levy managed to get a world record fee for one of the players shouldn't take away from this fact. It was practically a nil net spend, but that was because Levy generated unbelievable cash for us to spend.

As mentioned, if it was truly a cash cow, they'd have spent half of the money and taken the rest as bonus. It's bollocks. Levy has helped make the club far more valuable than it was before and delivered consistent European football without running the club unsustainably.

I will accept criticism of Levy with regard to football-side decisions, but there's no evidence or your business-side claims.
