Good signing on paper for Pool.

I do wonder how he will adapt to the league though.

I don’t buy it based off that article. It quotes English sources and the financials involved are crazy.

He'll be considered a flop by the end of his Liverpool time. He will be part.of the team that brings the Salah era to an end with their new manager he'll take too long to adapt and I think by the end of the season the fans will be saying "give him one more season".
He's a player suited to a lesser club.

Very intrigued to see how he fares at Liverpool and clearly is a talented player but I don't feel this is a guy we'll be ruing going to a rival and in equal measure not the guy who can truly take the baton on from Salah.

Not seeing any real concrete links here and some of you are talking like he’s already holding their shirt. Some of you really need to stop transfer click baiters leading you around by the nose.

Really like him as a player. As a Prem player remains to be seen. One thing I will say begrudgingly about Liverpool fans is that they do give new signings patience and support. Good place for him to go.

I’d love it mate, he’s exactly what we need but think he’s off to Liverpool isn’t he?

Think Liverpool may try and make a move for Gordon in the next 3 weeks. If they fail with that, who knows they may turn to Kubo or someone else. They are fairly well stocked when it comes to forwards but with Salah in the last year of his contract and Diaz apparently angling for a move to Spain, they maybe looking to sort something out now.

Too much is been made of the need for explosiveness from the RW I feel. I mean it may help but when I see Kubo, I see other valuable qualities we don't have.

He's incredibly nimble, shifts direction quickly, low sense of gravity, strong ball retention/close control.

He isn't explosive in the way he'll drive past someone with force but anyone who has played against small nimble players will tell you, they seem to find a way past you and can be harder to stop than big powerful wingers sometimes (see Salah)

Sorry Ross I replied in the Neto thread so I’ll put it here.

If the winger is going to be direct and get past opponents regularly out wide in the PL the explosive acceleration is a must imo, all the best wingers in the PL have that ability.

The only way Kubo adapts to the PL role wise is by playing as an inside forward imo, playing more in the half spaces and using his nimble feet and touch to navigate those areas. He simply won’t be able to fulfil the role Ange wants out wide imo.

Major concerns about his lack of strength and think he would struggle in the PL though, despite his talent. He will get eaten up by defenders and lose the ball too easily I fear.

You mention Salah but there’s a monumental difference between Kubo and Salah. Salah has insane explosiveness and acceleration. Kubo simply doesn’t have that and it’s that lack of explosiveness which would stop him being able to fulfil the Ange winger role effectively.

When I mention explosiveness I’m not talking about someone like Bale. You can be be nimble and small but explosive, see Salah, Lennon, Sterling etc.

Completely agree mate.

To simplify it even further, I just can't envision Kubo being able to get past the full backs in the premier league.

For one, his confident will be rock bottom from failing to get past Udogie in training every day.

Excellent post as always mate. I agree completely. As far as diminutive wingers go I’d probably take a risk on Conceição over Kubo tbh. I’ve expressed my feelings on Kubo in detail in this thread, he’s much more of a wide playmakers then a wing forward imo. I do actually like him but for us…. I’m not entirely convinced. Conceição on the other hand is much more explosive. Even statistically he was up there with the best in Europe and he’s younger. Not saying he would be my top choice, and I’ve certainly voiced my concerns in the past but when looking at the market, in terms of smaller players only, I’d probably take a risk on Conceição if it was a hypothetical choice of the two!
