Very very curious to see how he does
Do they?Really like him as a player. As a Prem player remains to be seen. One thing I will say begrudgingly about Liverpool fans is that they do give new signings patience and support. Good place for him to go.
Haha yeah these were my thoughts exactly tooThe fact Michael Edwards is recruiting him makes me think he must be more suited to the PL than I thought. That man doesn’t miss.
Maaaaaaaaaaybe?Top player imo, I was hoping we’d get him if we didn’t get both Eze & Neto.
I’d love it mate, he’s exactly what we need but think he’s off to Liverpool isn’t he?Maaaaaaaaaaybe?

Too much is been made of the need for explosiveness from the RW I feel. I mean it may help but when I see Kubo, I see other valuable qualities we don't have.
He's incredibly nimble, shifts direction quickly, low sense of gravity, strong ball retention/close control.
He isn't explosive in the way he'll drive past someone with force but anyone who has played against small nimble players will tell you, they seem to find a way past you and can be harder to stop than big powerful wingers sometimes (see Salah)
Completely agree mate.Sorry Ross I replied in the Neto thread so I’ll put it here.
If the winger is going to be direct and get past opponents regularly out wide in the PL the explosive acceleration is a must imo, all the best wingers in the PL have that ability.
The only way Kubo adapts to the PL role wise is by playing as an inside forward imo, playing more in the half spaces and using his nimble feet and touch to navigate those areas. He simply won’t be able to fulfil the role Ange wants out wide imo.
Major concerns about his lack of strength and think he would struggle in the PL though, despite his talent. He will get eaten up by defenders and lose the ball too easily I fear.
You mention Salah but there’s a monumental difference between Kubo and Salah. Salah has insane explosiveness and acceleration. Kubo simply doesn’t have that and it’s that lack of explosiveness which would stop him being able to fulfil the Ange winger role effectively.
When I mention explosiveness I’m not talking about someone like Bale. You can be be nimble and small but explosive, see Salah, Lennon, Sterling etc.
Excellent post as always mate. I agree completely. As far as diminutive wingers go I’d probably take a risk on Conceição over Kubo tbh. I’ve expressed my feelings on Kubo in detail in this thread, he’s much more of a wide playmakers then a wing forward imo. I do actually like him but for us…. I’m not entirely convinced. Conceição on the other hand is much more explosive. Even statistically he was up there with the best in Europe and he’s younger. Not saying he would be my top choice, and I’ve certainly voiced my concerns in the past but when looking at the market, in terms of smaller players only, I’d probably take a risk on Conceição if it was a hypothetical choice of the two!Sorry Ross I replied in the Neto thread so I’ll put it here.
