We definitely still need a quality RW.

We saw the impact simply having 1 x 19 year old player of quality and the right style had on the team. Johnson needs to be a backup player and Odobert is at his best LW. Having that kind of ability on both flanks is what we need.

If it was up to me I’d sign a RW (whether that’s Kubo, Bakayoko etc) and then see if we can cancel Werner’s loan. If not then don’t register Werner for Europe and then cancel the loan in January.

Agreed and with a guaranteed 10 cup matches and hopefully many more, there will be a need for competent squad players….unless we’re not interested in winning something. I mean, we’ve done worse in cups than playing Werner, Richy, and Johnson across the front line on a week we’ve played Son, Solanke, and Odobert on the weekend.
I don't think we'll be seeing much of Odobert on the right.

Don't think we'll be seeing any more additions to our attack this window so not expecting any moves for him now. To be honest, wouldn't be surprised if we are done in terms of incomings although hoping we can bring in some cover at LB.

The Werner loan made a lot of sense in the first instance, but makes a whole lot less sense since we signed Solanke and Odobert, and since he seems to have slipped down the pecking order.

Signing Solanke reduced the need to use Son centrally, so he'll play far more games at LW than last season.
Odobert was selected ahead of Werner yesterday, so Werner is presumably 3rd choice currently.
That leaves Mike Moore at 4th choice or lower. Any of Richarlison, Johnson & Kulusevski (anyone else?) could also play LW if needed.
Then Yang arrives in January. His playing time to date has been fairly equally split between LW & RW, so he could cover either position. Even if Ange strongly prefers him on the right, it would make it easier for another predominantly right-sided player (e.g. Johnson) to play out of position on the left.

Unless Ange anticipates Werner being higher up in the pecking order than it currently appears, I would guess his loan was very much a contingency plan.

Like you've said, Kubo would seem unnecessary.
Season has barely started and we are going to have sustained periods of two games a week and will need squad depth, I can see Werner and Moore getting plenty of game time and we’ll need both.

And this is the point those saying we are wrong to complain about Werner are not getting.

Ange was expected to put Odobert on the right.

Son and Werner clearly being out LW options.

But he put Odobert on rhe left. Which puts Werner even further down the pecking order for that position as well know Son will play there when Solanke is back.

Does this now mean that Odobert goes to the right? Even if he does, Ange may still wish to switch him to the left if Son comes off or is unavailable and I think he will so that as we saw him and Johnson really stretched the pitch.

Werner doesn't really offer that. And it's worse as he is totally ineffective off the right.

That means we are light on that right side especially if Ange prefers Odobert off the left and Werner then ends up being a spare part.

I see Ange fully supporting one of his players, Johnson in this case to find his form only 2 games into the season. The small minority of fans actions out there constantly verbally beating up on some of the players like punch bags, are counter productive, critiquing the performance is cool, but how can you get the best out of someone constantly putting them down while using phrases at them like sh#t, crap etc.

Ange is supporting his players, whether we like them or not, and we need to do the same while there at our club.

Are people getting on his back in the stadium?

💯 agree.

Shame Chelsea aren’t up for selling Madueke, he’s exactly the type of player and quality we need at RW.

LB rotation as well.
LB/CB rotation, as currently if 1 CB gets injured we are down to Davies as sub/rotation again with Drag/Romero starting every game. I like the guy but it's a drop off in quality.

I haven't seen Kubo but if people are excited I'm all for it. I believe in Johnson more than most, but we need a solid rotation/pressure

I may be wrong but Ange seem to want crosses/cut backs put in to the middle by the wide players. Johnson suits that dynamic and can also finish well if the ball comes in from the opposite side. As much as I like Kubo I'm not sure those are his traits.

Johnson isn't the solution either

I reckon we are a RW and a no.6 away from actually challenging the very top of the league tbh.
We're always a player or 2 short it seems. I think if we had Rodri alone though we would be challenging.
