I can't believe Smith gave his MOTM to Suarez yesterday. Vertonghen was by far the best player on the pitch. His defending was spot on, made some great last ditch tackles, looked great coming out from the back and scored twice. I guess it's one of those where they feel the MOTM has to come from the winning team all the time.

He's a great centre back with all the credentials you look for at this level. Why worry about other teams like Barca coming in for him? Just enjoy this great team we're building and don't worry about may or may not happen down the line.

Perhaps Smith's criteria were different to yours or mine. He might also have been one of the Aquatic Centre judges at the Olympics, in which case Suarez was certainly the nearest thing to a Tom Daley on view.

So predictable that a player on the winning side is always picked as MOTM. Assuming it must be a player on the winning side, who else for Liverpooh could have got it?

I always knew he was good but thought he looked a little bit laboured at times for us but the last few weeks he really has looked the real deal, such a fucking good player. Those stretched tackles he makes time after time are fantastic.

Many Liverpool fans where saying he should have been MOM.

He was exceptional - but went for Mousa who was just sublime.........

Very, very, very impressed with Vertonghen.

I have been on Levy's case for years regarding last minute transfers and going over his managers head's. I still stand by those thoughts...but, this summer I am very happy with Lloris, Vertonghen and Dembele.

Well done Daniel.

If one day we find ourselves with no striker, play him there and he'll get a hattrick for us.

The way he took his second goal was class. He managed to shift his bodyweight while leaning away from the ball and get his left peg up and strike it cleanly, near post. Quality.

Sorry about the poor quality but it was the only clip that showed the second goal on its own.

Yep. Lovely goal. Realised he couldn't power on it so just did the basics. Good connection and on target. The benefit of having technically profficient players in the team and not the likes of Henderson.

He started off very solid, then became very very good for us, so much that he was very often our best player on the pitch in the first half of the season (with Sandro). Then had a few games where he seemed a bit below his level. But now he has again risen up to the top of his game. Fantastic signing and future (near future) captain. Plus our most clinical finisher at the moment, blond Pele.

And yet against Inter there was a bloke behind me slagging him off and again at Liverpool ! I do wonder if they do it to get a reaction from those around them or they really are just thick as pig shit. He's been solid these last few weeks and scoring which is always a bonus.
There's your answer (or part of it anyway).

Super Jan is a majestic defender. I just wish we could have seen him playing with King Ledley.

Well if we lose him we still have Dawson, Kaboul, Caulker, Gallas/new CB. I don't think CB is to big of a concern right now. Not to mention we'd get A LOT for him. His contract is very new and his stock is very high. Would be 20-25M+.

That being said I really hope he does stay here for a while and as of now he's only made indications that he intends to do that, which is a good thing.
