Alan Smith tends to do Spurs I totally hate when his on our games

Yes hes a winy prick, tries to be neutral but can't help himself.

Saw the scum highlights and i'm sure he said ....''hopefully they can (Arsenal) get a couple this half to settle down'' i mean, fuck off!

The sooner BT takes over football coverage the better in my opinion.

However, I did think this morning about these kinds of comments. We remember the famous words around even failure has an echo of glory. We had average expectations at the beginning of the season with no signings etc.. Sky only made a big thing about it because they love to talk about money every transfer window and it is a chance to put terrible yellow ties on, it is a circus. We excelled first half of the season, but everyone is judged for the whole thing.

We fell short around February, they are only human. Our last few games have been OK, but we just have no energy. Have we failed this season in the League? I think their debate has come from the fact we were so close to the title pack a couple of months ago, then we just fell apart. But equally we are successful because even the most optimistic had thoughts we would not get into the Top 4 over the course of a whole season. So I think in some of their points they are saying we achieved based on the pre-season thoughts, but we were close at say 3/4 of the way through the season, we fell short and are now scrapping through to get Top 4. Let us not forget having to play at Wembley and moving the stadium date several times, it affected us fans, I am sure in affected the players too.

For me personally, I am proud of this team massively considering all the elements, injuries, energy lapse. We are in the top 4 and we have the opportunity to be in a FINAL of the Champions League. There are teams that have been in the competition for decades and not managed that.

Well said. I think all in all we've had a good season regardless of what happens now. The way I see it, our minimum aims at the start of the season will have been:
  • Prem - finish top 4 to qualify for CL next season
  • CL - get out the group
  • Domestic Cups - Low priority, see what happens
After our no-signing summer and a potential banana skin of a CL group draw, people were doubting us. But when you look at it now, we've (barring a miracle) achieved our aim for the league and far exceeded our aims in the CL, even if we go out on Wednesday.

Alright so with hindsight you might say we'd have already had top 4 sewn up weeks ago and might be going into Wednesday with a lead if we'd had a deeper squad, but I don't see how anyone could describe this season as a failure especially given the circumstances with the stadium and all that as well. I'm really proud of what we've achieved this season either way now and maybe the touch-and-go nailbiting end to the season will encourage Levy to back Poch in the summer to ensure we don't have such an end of season panic next year.

I quite like Sunday supplement but the guests are a mixed bag to say the least.

Matt Law, Matt Dickinson, Sam Wallace and some of the new younger ones are all fairly interesting.

Shaun Custis is rubbish, Neil Custis repugnant and John Cross is just embarrassing, the other journalists really look uncomfortable when he's spouting his nonsense. Taking his obvious Arsenal allegiance to one side he really is a 1980's journalist in the modern age, he doesn't actually have any insight or report anything that a 4 year old couldn't come up with. Whilst not as disgusting Martin Lipton seems just as dated.

Disagree on Matt Law, the guy is a serial liar.

Great posts both.

Martin Samuel saying Spurs and Arse are vulnerable to Leicester and Palace, couldn't believe what i was hearing.
He then went on to say that the Laporte handball just glanced his hand.

Don't think we are vulnerable to Palace. Certainly think Leicester should not be discounted for a third place finish though.

Didn't agree on what he said about the handball because as others have said the changed the direction of the ball, but I making him right on Leicester at least. Said before the season they'd have a good season if Rogers get's them playing as he likes which he has & they look quite dangerous & could be there or thereabouts at the end of the season for top 6 if not top 4.

I laughed when he said the Laporte handball only brushed him and didn't divert the ball....what was he watching? If it wasn't for touching his hand, the ball would have been cleared. It clearly diverted the ball into Jesus's path.

Rodgers is an excellent manager.

It was as predictable as anything that he'd turn Leicester into a really good side. Look what he's done to Vardy, there isn't a player that has scored more goals than him in the league since Rodgers took over. Whereas under the previous two Leicester manager's he couldn't score for shit.

If Poch ever moved on, he'd be one of my top choice replacements. He just gets the best out of players and plays exciting football. Plus he has unfinished business with the PL title. I think he's less of a risk than getting a young coach from abroad.

Does anyone really think Emery for example is doing a better job at Arsenal than Rodgers would do? I think if Rodgers was at Arsenal last season, we'd probably be playing Europa League football this season.

I strongly dislike Rodgers, but agree that he’s a very good manager, if not perhaps in the elite bracket currently occupied by Klopp and Pep.

If Poch were to go tomorrow, you have to think that Rodgers would be pretty close to the top of our wanted list. I’d certainly prefer him to the likes of Howe and Mourinho in any case.

I agree and think he is a good manager. He's just such an arrogant bellend. Thankfully with Leicester we don't hear him in the press much but if he had our managers job then I think he'd irritate us pretty quickly.

Rodgers has actually recently, for probably the first time in his life, shown some humility and said he regrets some of the stuff he's said and done in his career so far. I can't find an article for direct quotes but I heard it on one of the podcasts I follow.

I don't think he'll ever manage us, certainly not in the short or medium term, but if he were to one day I don't think we'd see another envelope stunt or "we won the passing" shite like he did at Liverpool. His biggest problem there was trying to play up to the fans too much, he became a sort of RAWK in person.
