So that we’re all clear what process is going to be in place for this Summer’s transfer window, we have to take the transfer kitty in to account, knowing that Danso and Tel will be made permanent. So circa £70m is already accounted for.
i think that the upcoming Window will be a sell to buy type.
Thoughts.

I expect it depends entirely on whether we win in Bilbao or not. That game is worth £100m minimum, no point pretending that doesn't have a major impact on our budget.

Going off what Ange has uttered on this subject, yes.
Has he talked about that since we initially brought him in, when he said he didn't bring him in for just the season?

Much has happened since then.

The summer budget has nothing to do with total cost of players. It's whatever is possible over the net payments outgoings/incoming on players already signed. Danso first payment could be £10m, Tel's depends on Europa win, how we offset with Kane's to be received.

No doubt we will aim to sell/buy at same time though.

I wonder whether it will be the impact you’re expecting? If we lose, we’re a relegation prospect for next season and even Danny might be bounced into investing in the squad. If we win, everything is fine, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…

As stated above it'll be two very different paths on whether we have european football next season or not.

If we don't the squad will be reduced overall in numbers, if we do then there's the chance of actual significant signings to be made. The need for some type of european football is massive for us to be able to build a squad to challenge where we want to.

If we take a very conservative view on what we would get for our probably sales

Romero £50m
Richarlison £25m
Solomon £15m
Werner £0 but good wages off the books
Davies £5m
One of Bentancur/Bissouma £15m
Veliz £5m
Bryan Gil £10m
Regulion £0 but saved wages

At a low level I think we will get around £125m possibly £145m in sales.

So that leaves around £55m at least but probably more around £75m after the Danso and Tel purchases at net zero. I can’t see us getting another CB as Vuskovic will be coming and Dragusin will be back.

I can see trying for the below players with only a marginal net spend.

Cordoso: £21m
Angel Gomes: free
Left back: don’t know
Striker: Delap £30m
Right wing: Dibling £40m

Danso and Tel will only be the first installments and not the full fee out of that budget.

The harder bit to work out would also be what we can spend vs what's still due on players we have signed already and also what increase we get from the players sold also.

I think it was said we had 300 million in outstanding payments for transfers still due.

You are just posting about transfer fees but how about agents fees, signing on fees, etc ? Tens of millions involved there as well.

1. Davies signed a extension or we activated an option. so that won't happen.
2. Richarlison is easily £45 million
3. Bentancur you just don't sell.
4. Romero is £65 million and more

I think you about right on Soloman....or thereabouts

Trying to be conservative. I suspect we will get more for Romero and Richy but you cannot bank on those things 100%.

Bilbao and outgoings will be the deciding factor, we probably have different plans and lists based on those two outcomes. If we win the Europa League and manage to shift the players we need to shift early, the Richarlisons and Bissoumas of the world, then I think we'll be ambitious purely to strengthen ourselves for the CL and competiting on more fronts.

If we lose the final and we have no European football next season, don't get your hopes up.

I can see it being the other way around if we're seriously looking at moving Romero on.

I would think Levy would want us to wrap up a starting 11 standard CB before the Romero deal is confirmed (to avoid asking prices going up too sharply)

As others here are saying, there are two routes, one with CL and one without. Without CL we will need less players though, so I would hope that CL qualification allows us to A) push the boat out a little more on incomings and B) fill out the squad quality a bit.

The last 3 years we've had net transfer spend of: £100m, £130m and £120m. So let's assume that our top end net spend with CL will be £120m and our bottom end spend without CL will be £50m.

In terms of player sales we're then looking at a minimum of:

Romero - £55m
Richarlison - £30m
Solomon - £15m
Veliz - £5m
Gil - £10m
Hojbjerg - £15m (already agreed)
Bissouma - £20m
TOTAL: £150m.

So that's a gross spend of £200m without CL and £270m with CL.

RB: New RB/LB - ?
CB: Danso - £20m
CB: NEW CB - ?
CM: Cardoso - £25m
LW: Tel - £35m
ST: New ST - ?

Leaving us with either £120m without CL or £190m with CL to fill those positions. Although I'd argue with CL we could add another AM to the squad.

Personally I'd look to bring in KWP for the RB/LB role as he's on a free and is academy trained, which is particularly important for CL.

Then that leaves £60m for a CB and £60m for ST without CL. If we get CL then let's push the boat out and go with £70m for a CB, £70m for a ST and £50m for another AM.
