I'm a big Traore fan and have been banging his drum for a while, but i think it's unfair to make a direct comparison between these two. Traore is much quicker, more direct and probably scares teams more but Bergwijn is the more well-rounded player. Decent pace, decent dribbling ability, better vision etc. That's not to say he's 'necessarily better' but those expecting a Traore-type player will be surprised.

The comparison to Zaha above isn't bad. This lad is a smoother Zaha in my view.

Honestly, I don’t think Traore is faster than Bergwijn.

Obviously Traore is a lot stronger, but not faster. Bergwijn has better acceleration, for sure.

No chance. Traore's acceleration is absolutely off the charts. He just breezes past players like they aren't there.

We've given new contracts to Alderweireld and Sissoko recently who are both 30, so not sure why you think a couple of 28 year olds will be moved on.

They've been two of our best players where as Lucas blows hot and cold and Lamela spends the majority of each season on the treatment table. Which other of our wide forward players would make way for a McNeil or Bowen when we already seem to be bringing in Bergwijn? Son? Best time to sell either of those two players would be this summer.

You are correct there! But Steven is rapid. Probably few inches slower. But the way he uses his body etc, is far superior to Traore who I rate highly. Plus he is far more consistent and clinical. Only 21?

This was the point I was trying to make above.

Perhaps Traore is faster in straight lines, and would have a better time on the track over 100m. But Bergwijn has far more fluidity to his movement - lot more agile.

No but reading the latest itk, it sounds like Bergwijn might have left Holland too soon.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Trix just mentioned he hasn't heard anything on his end; probably doesn't hear about every single dealing and every journalist well connected with the club is reporting it's close.

Bergwijn is the sort of signing that the likes of Leicester, Wolves or Bournemouth make at the price which is currently offered to us, goes on to perform well for them, leaving us watching and wondering "Why didn't we go for him at that price?"

I am for one excited to see him on board.

So a few years back a punt on an up and coming youngster was about 8-12M Euro - is this the modern equivalent and so with inflation it's closer to 30M Euro?

Exactly, reminds me of Leicester's Pereira deal
