Get over yourself, ask any neutral fan and 99% of them will tell you Zaha gets in our team.
I assume you’ve asked all of them, like how you took a survey of the football viewing habits of all Tottenham fans.

Who does he get in the team over? This season’s Dele, maybe, but not at his peak. Son is a better than player than him. Kane obvs not. And then as it stands whilst we have Eriksen then not a chance he gets in over him either.

For a change I actually agree with you. Zaha is an exciting player, he takes players on, does nice skills and is lively as hell. What he doesn't do is score or assist as much as any of our forwards that currently start. Dele, Son, Eriksen all score and assist a lot more than him. For such a good player his finishing and final ball is no where near £70m quality. I don't doubt it would improve in a better team where he couldn't be singled out by opposition but I'd still expect more goals from Son, Dele and Eriksen. If Eriksen does go we will need to sign someone who can play make from the advanced position and that definitely isn't Zaha.

Zaha is what a team like UTD or Chelsea need at the moment. Neither could say he wouldn't get in their team. I think we safely can.

It all depends on the formation, if we play one striker or even 2, he’s not better than Kane or son

Didn't see anything last night to persuade me that £35m on Bergwijn would be a safe investment. I'd almost rather spend money on some of the young homegrown prospects from the Championship we've been linked to in the wide positions, or pay a bit more and get someone that's much more likely to be a guaranteed hit.

As it stands - and I'm still not sure why we're discussing him so much in here - Zaha would be a much safer bet. He's Premier League proven and more or less a unique talent in terms of his dribbling ability. Of course we wouldn't entertain the idea at the prices being mentioned, but if they were willing to deal at closer to £55-60m then there's an argument that it'd be worth the extra £20m over Bergwijn. I think if we did sign Zaha it would be as a starter and probably signal a change of formation to a 4-3-3.

He gets in the team no problem, put it that way.
Not sure about that. He enhances the squad certainly. But he is inconsistent and quite moody. I'm a big fan but he is not really any better than moura or son. Both score more than Zaha but he is more creative.

I would like him but probably not for more than 50-60 million.

You answered your own question.

But let's leave it there as don't want to derail thread further.

I disagree we don`t have a player like Zaha and we could do with one... He is usually marked by two players or the other team makes special arrangements for him so he disrupts them and gives space to other players. He can dribble through tightly packed defences so hard to park the bus, in a top team if used correctly could be devastating and give us a Man City like option. He would need to learn to play in our system and be more of a team player but I think he would be good for us.

I don’t think we can safely say that.

Last season he scored 10 and assisted 5 in a palace side fighting relegation.

The year before it was 9 and 3.

The year before it was 7 and 9.

At a side who finish in the bottom parts of the league every season, that’s a very good output, probably the only reason they’ve not gone down in fact. It’s a myth that he’s all flash and no substance and, should he move to us to play with Kane, Son, Dele, Lucas, etc, he’d almost certainly be even better.

He’s not a priority, we have Lucas and Son already for that type of player so someone maybe younger and talented but with more to prove like the guy this thread is dedicated to would be more appropriate, but if we had Zaha, Son and Lucas to choose from out wide we’d be in a very strong position.

Oh shit, now I want N’Dombele, Lo Celso AND Zaha :cry:

Good post and highlights that we could really benefit from signing another decent AM/WF with pace and trickery. It also eliminates the need to buy a Kane type backup because Son or Lucas could play central if needed and be proficient at that role. Like you, I think it doesn’t mean we should buy a player of Zaha’s financial valuation because a large chunk of our funds are probably going towards addressing central midfield but I’d be very pleased if we invested in an up and coming player in this area.

I think Liverpool’s model of being rapid in all four flank positions, with Harry in the middle and a midfield who can both press and play, is the way forward for us. I don’t see us replacing Eriksen like for like.

Great point. Eriksen is a fantastic player but for me he is simply not dynamic enough. What you gain in terms of his use of the ball you lose in his lack of athleticism.

I think while there arent many better at exactly what he does, there are better all round players.

If we want to play a 4-3-3 like Liverpool it's essential we buy a top class wide forward (like a Zaha). We only have Son and Lucas for those wide positions and Lucas hasn't shown enough consistency to be a guaranteed starter yet.

Also leaves Dele without a position unless we retrain him to be in the midfield 3, he's looked poor there whenever played there for England/Spurs.

I’d rather take a punt on the dude from Leeds. They’d both play as much with our squad. Might as well go for the English chap for hg and future sell on value.

He does seem a man without an island at the moment, I think we all wanted him to be the Lampard of a midfield 3 but it hasn't worked out like that so far.

There's 3 options, either the Lampard position of the 3 as you suggested, we allow him the shadow striker role which has so far proven to be the best or he takes the left side of the forward positions similar to Ronaldo for Madrid.

I don’t know where Dele’s at in this potential reshuffle. His stats have been superb since he broke into the squad but his technique, especially control and dribbling, can be woeful and exacting against a team looking to either press or catch us on the counter. Ideally, he’s best suited further up the pitch where his positional play and goal scoring ability, arguably his two best features, can flourish. But I don’t see how he works in a 433 that places a premium on pace out wide. He definitely needs to work on his ball control and quick distribution if he becomes one of the midfield three should we change formation
