SPURS LEADING BERGWIJN RACE

Tottenham are leading a host of top European clubs determined to land PSV Eindhoven’s flying winger, Steven Bergwijn, Sky Sports News understands.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a huge fan of the 21-year old Netherlands international who impressed during Tottenham’s Champions League home tie against PSV in November.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Bergwijn who is expected to leave PSV this summer for around £35m.

Ajax’s director Marc Overmars is also understood to be keen on Bergwijn, who began his career in the Ajax academy. However, it’s thought unlikely PSV would sell such a prized asset to their bitter rivals.

Makes sense, allows Son and Lucas to take more prominent roles as strikers, and add more depth out-wide. A replacement for both Janssen and GKN in one.

Don't know much about him. Is he any good?
His team mate Lozano is quality but he's probably too expensive / unavailable.

I wish we'd go for his team mate Lozano but he's probably too expensive / unavailable.

I prefer him to Lozano (for our squad at least). Lozano reminds me a lot of Son in terms of profile, whereas this guy seems to possess a lot more quality in his end product and his dribbling is superior, at least in my opinion.

He's like a combination of the best bits of Lucas and Coco, albeit less developed.

I saw this on reddit the other day but there was no solid link so couldn't post a thread.

https://psv.supporters.nl/nieuws/ar...-van-Tottenham-voor-Steven-Bergwijn'#reageren

Apparently VI is top tier for PSV news.

The article translated says "Voetbal International knows that PSV expects Tottenham Hotspur to make an offer for Steven Bergwijn this week. According to VI, Tottenham will have to compete with Ajax for that and the question is what PSV will do if Ajax makes a higher bid. Bergwijn would itself be open to a transfer to Amsterdam."

Here is the reddit thread

I think there is other priorities. Unless this is to replace an outgoing Lamela, then we need to fill priority positions first.

Unless of course we have a bottomless pit of money this year.
