I see this only as a plan D,E,F kind of signing. Unable to believe we will be willing to spend 35m on a winger. His compilations looks good on Youtube. But then, if we look closely, there is God awful defending in their league
Is it the sort of defending we see from Trippier?

I don't know why, but this one worries me. He could make the step up, but it's a pretty big risk spending that sum of money on someone from the Dutch league that hasn't necessarily proven themselves on the European or international stage yet. That said, I am a sucker for a pacy wide man (hence the avatar).

May have been answered but can he play as a striker as well (son, Lucas) or is just a wide man

Always the same isn't it. Give it another year and he might do well. Then it's 70m and Barcelona knocking. Lets hope Poch's priorites are in order.

Signing him would also fit with the idea of selling Eriksen and changing how we play, in the Liverpool model he'd be our Mane, with Lo Celso being the furthest forward midfield 3, which he seems better suited to then Eriksen was in that position

Mane was in the Austrian league before Saints went for him - just gotta hope our scouts have done their work. Looks an exciting talent to me...

Recommended him in the Wilson threat at the start of the window as an option to get instead and as a player that could play on both wings, freeing up sonny and moura to fill in up top as they have.

“Bergwijn would be a great option for that. He’s young, Plays both sides, really pacey and skillful. I think would be willing to take time to learn without getting upset about not starting every game. Only issue is he would be pricey, he’s very highly rated.

14 goals and 12 assists this season. 21 games starting on the left, 18 starting on the right.” Really is a top talent! Should be able to watch him tomorrow evening against England

Very true. As long as we sign established talents that will improve our starting XI too I don't mind taking a punt on these types of players (although I'd prefer Sessegnon if it was an either/or situation).

The concern however is looking at a player like Alireza Jahanbakhsh who managed 21 goals and 12 assists in 17/18 in the Eredivisie, yet moving to Brighton hasn’t managed a single goal or assist this season in 20 games. It’s a massive jump, yet I think Bergwijn has far more natural ability to his game. Far more rapid and powerful, which would help him adapt to the prem better in my opinion

It is interesting to have a look att r profile of players we have “one our list”. Powerful, pact, wide man and deeper lying midfielders (number 6 and 8). Points towards a 433 I think
