With Wanyama signing for Spurs yesterday, I was trying to think about what shirt number he will pull on next season...

Thought I'd create this thread for when we release the official squad numbers. Also, just to hear any thoughts on ones that people may think will change this year?

Won't be announced untill close to Premier League kick off.
Reckon Wanyama will wait and see what shirt turn available:
Bentaleb's 6, Mason's 8, Yedlin's 12 (which he has at Southampton)

I'm hoping Bentaleb and Alderweireld swap, defenders at number 4 and midfielders at number 6 do my head in.

Yeah 5 should always be a centre back number with 4 and 6 then being either a defender or midfielder (not them both being same position if you know what I mean).

So whilst I'm glad 4 and 5 are our first choice centre backs I would prefer ideally that Toby take 6 and (controversy alert!) Dier takes number 4.

Wanyama depends on what numbers are vacated as said above (6, 8 or 12 currently could or could not be available).

But to be honest I'm just still happy Kane took no.10 last summer :love:

In recent seasons we've tidied our numbers up nicely with Walker finally taking 2 (as was concerned he'd stick with 28 for 'luck' reasons like that plum Luke Shaw giving up number 3 for 23, which I think is a bit weak), Rose getting 3, Lloris getting 1, Kane getting 10 as aforementioned, Bentaleb 6 and Mason 8 before they perhaps didn't meet the standards this season they'd previously met etc.

Would like Winks to move up to 24 and Pritchard (if hopefully stays) moving up to 21 as just seems more neat in my strange OCD mind :joyful::joyful:

9 and 18 available for some new strikers hopefully.

It didnt matter this year. Bentaleb rarely ever played. He was very poor at the beginning then was injured alot and when he was fit, he was complete shit so he didnt get in the squad again for 2 months. Then he reinjured himself again somehow.

You must have hated Dempsey's choice of number then (2), I know I did.

Bentley (5) was another that just didn't sit right. Then again that wasn't just his choice of number.

I despised Dempsey having number 2 and Bentley having number 5.

We all know it makes sense for Winks to take 40. Think of the marketing opportunities should he become a first time star, bed linen, nightwear the lot

That is... a very good point... (y)

I think Steve Watts had number 40 for Luton a few years back as well lol.

Based entirely on my current Football Manager game, I'd go:

1. Lloris
2. Walker
3. Rose
4. Dier
5. Vertonghen
6. Alderweireld
7. Son
8. Mason
9. (New striker)
10. Kane
11. Lamela
12. Trippier
13. Vorm
14. Davies
15. Wimmer
16. Wanyama
17. (New attacking mid)
18.
19. Dembele
20. Alli
21.
22.
23. Eriksen
24. Winks
25. Onomah
26. Ball
27. Harrison
28. Walker-Peters
29. Carter-Vickers
30. McGee

This is having sold Fazio, Carroll, Chadli, Yedlin and N'Jie, and loaned out Pritchard, Ward and Bentaleb.

I am laughably picky when it comes to squad numbers.

Sorry - off topic but surely N'Jie deserves a chance having suffered an injury that kept him out for most of his first reason in a foreign country.

Wanyama signed a shirt for a competition on Spurs twitter account yesterday and blatantly signed it with the number 12. Read into that what you will.
