I think he needs to go on loan. It’s very clear that when we get to the business end of Europa, he’s not at this level yet and we’re not going to be able to play him. Certainly not ready for real EPL minutes. Great talent and will be really nice player to have in a year or two, buy needs be out getting real consistent minutes in the Championship or Dutch / Belgian league. Why? We're doing ok in the Europa league and Bergvall is playing.
There's no guarantee he'll get playing time out on loan and that won't be good for his development.
When we get to the business end of the Europa he'll have a good few games under his belt and will be a better player which is why we're doing what we're doing.I think he needs to go on loan. Although I think he’s quite a bit better than any of the others we’ve loaned to championship recently. or go to Dutch / Belgium. Bottom line is he needs 90 minutes a week against adults and there is zero chance he gets that here. When we get to the business end of the Europa he'll have a good few games under his belt and will be a better player which is why we're doing what we're doing.
In all honesty, other than Ashley Phillips who already had a season there before we bought him, I don't think any of our recent championship loans have been of any benefit whatsoever.
I disagree. I think he needs a rest. His season started in March, his pre-season started in January. He's adapting to a far higher level of football at 18 years of age. He's getting to know a new country, a new place to live, new team mates. All of that can be more overwhelming than he lets on outwardly.Although I think he’s quite a bit better than any of the others we’ve loaned to championship recently. or go to Dutch / Belgium. He’s definitely very slight. Gonna be interesting to see how he develops physically in the next couple of years.i was previously a bit dismissive of the comparisons to mikey, partly because by the law of averages you don't get that level of talent come along so closely together but it's hard to argue anymore that lwb isn't on that level. 12 goals and 5 assists in 9 games is mikey numbers, the quality of the finishes and general play are mikey levels, you could even argue lwb is more impressive because he doesn't have mikey's physicality, he's still very much built like a kid. hopefully he'll be where mikey is now in a year or two.
Fair enough. Works for me as long as we don’t include him in the 17 non HG for Europa League. If we want to win that comp we need a better option in midfield this spring for those games.I disagree. Stay with the squad until the summer, see where he's at next pre-season and assess from there.

With the modern trend for expecting keepers to be good on the ball and get involved in the outfield play, I wouldn't be surprised if this became something that players and coaches work a lot more on in training. Clearly it's a difficult skill to pull off, but it's the obvious counter to keepers camping out on the edge of their box.williams-barnett from the halfway line again.
It’s not always, but it is sometimes, which is the point. The skill and luck is knowing who to loan, to whom, and when. Not sure loaning out young players is always the best course of action, plenty of top players in PL have come through the ranks of their clubs and never been loaned out at all.
Looks like a recent shot of LWB tbf.Williams-Barnett and Byfield involved in a Spurs video years ago
Two of our own!
