Thanks @Spurzinho.

With plenty of our youth showcasing their quality during pre-season, who are our next biggest prospects in the youth teams?

That might join the pre-season tour in the next season or two?

@Spurzinho maybe as that first post you could make some season predictions for the youth players so we can keep expectations in mind throughout the season

Why don't we just keep a long-standing youth thread? Is there a particular reason to have season by season?

I suppose it's because of new intakes and players moving up or on.
Players breaking through get their own threads but the academy changes every year, so I guess it makes sense to have a new thread every year.

Love this thread so appreciate all those who contribute 👏🏼
Probably the best thread on the site for me. Nothing better than watching young talent and getting overly excited about their chances. 😁
I've managed to infect one of my sons with this enthusiasm and it's the reason I've now got Spursplay, so we can watch the youth games together.

I've added a squad list in the first post and included a column where I guestimate what we should be expecting from them this season. Feedback would be appreciated. I'm not sure about it myself.

Agreed - some really informed opinions, both on youth football in general, and within the club, plus it’s not rammed full of tosspots sniping at one another.
Long may it continue.

Good work mate, can't be easy to judge potential at the ages some of these kids are, so we won't hold you to it. 😁

Without meaning to be too greedy, are you planning on adding the other age groups too?

It seems a little on the nose for the opening post. They’re only kids. Could we at least let them find their lockers before rating them?

Personally I’m careful not to make what could be construed as negative comments about any lad who hasn’t yet been awarded a professional contract.

I’m with you. I consider myself fair insensitive to most things, but even though it’s barely different to what’s discussed, it feels a bit black and white and is incredibly subjective, and almost certainly a poor indicator as to how they’ll turn out. I’d remove the potential column personally

I don't mind it really because it's only giving a very rough idea of potential.

I think everyone who comes in here understands that so much can change with players so young, so nobody will be taking anything too serious from it but I don't mind seeing someone's opinion on them, it gives me a bit more info from someone who's judgement I tend to like.

If anyone reads it and thinks "well that kid's shit because @Spurzinho rated them as low", probably shouldn't be in this thread because they don't understand youth football.

Maybe. It depends whether it makes the thread look cluttered and people find it useful.

I'm sympathetic to what you're saying @eddiebailey & @Ron Burgundy. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it myself. If anyone has any ideas how to make it more useful then please let me know.

Perhaps just highlight the ones who are the high and very high potential...?

Maybe a link to the site of the different teams and a mention of players of note will do?

I'd agree with that. And probably merge the two measures to just indicate those that are particularly highly rated. There are just a handful - and they are broadly the current age-group internationals.

Yeah, that's a good idea.
Maybe just have 'ones to watch' or something that can be altered as the season goes on?
