Devine quietly going under the radar, two very impressive performances from him. Would love to see him become a part of the first team squad this season.

The discussion about Moore, the kid is clearly ready. Will be in the first team this season.
Devine is highly rated by Ange and many others at the club, you can't help but be impressed by his two outings thus far and I'd be surprised if he wasn't in and around the squad this season. Offers so much more than Skipp and would allow us to move Skipp on for a nice little fee.

I think Moore, Devine, Donley and Lankshear are all ready. None of them looked out of place. I think Devine didn’t get the same spotlight as the other guys but he looked so comfortable in there.

I was most shocked by Lankshear though. Despite having a great goal scoring record last season I thought his physicality maybe made his life a bit easier at U21 and that he’d struggle to impact against grown men but I was completely wrong. His movement in his little cameo’s was excellent, he also has an ability to hold off a player and get to his spot first. It just always seemed like he’d be in with a shout of scoring where it didn’t feel that way at all with Veliz who despite being strong and working hard doesn’t seem to have that same natural movement and positioning.

With Lankshear, it’s defo his outside the box stuff, linkup play, etc, that needs the most work. Inside the box he does look very dangerous.

When we decide to loan our youngsters I hope we find them better clubs that are more suited to their development. You can never be 100% certain since managers get sacked and systems change but Veliz was never going to play much for Sevilla, even without all the bullshit that was going on there. Sometimes it could be players pushing for loans or their parents and agents, so I know it's not so simple every time. So far we managed to find a perfect loan for Vuskovic at least, hope others will be of similar quality.

Haven’t we brought in someone recently just to manage this?

A lot of games coming up this season, I can see a fair amount of the younger players staying at the club and getting quite decent minutes, unless we go on a buying spree.

A link in a northern local paper putting Soonsup-Bell with Bolton. They do play decent football and did well for the young full back from Liverpool who played a lot for Liverpool last season . Cannot remember the name. Nothing definite just that Bolton are considering him. Needs to go somewhere.

If that means him staying around and getting games I would love this.
As I say constantly it is time for Skippy to move on and get lots of regular first team games

Is that Conor Bradley?

Still a touch early to say on Lankshear as he only had 20 mins or so the other night. But if he keeps performing in pre-season then for sure he should be kept around.

But I do agree that Lankshear seems the most likely to break through after Moore. After those two, maybe Tyrese Hall. I could be wrong but I still feel like Ange isn't totally convinced on Donley & Devine.
Lankshear just looks like a natural goalscorer to me, he just pops up in the right positions and then finds the net. And that ability is transferable to top class men's football much like Kane.
And Moore just has that ball stuck to his foot that stops defenders getting to it, just needs to learn to play others in when they are better placed.
I think the advantage these two have is no competition for second choice striker and third choice winger so it's an easier decision.

I'd have quite happily bought in Donley but with Ludwig and Archie coming in I'm not sure where he fits to justify minutes unless Ange is looking to move on two out of Bentancur, Bissouma, and Lo Celso.
I've not really seen enough of Devine to form an opinion but I watched a couple of Plymouth games last season and he didn't look out of place.

Going on loan isn't as straight forward, so its difficult to pick and choose the right one for the specific player.

The club that is looking for players, may only have a short space, or a particular role to fulfill, and that can often be made of contacts managers or club people have, rather than us getting to pick and choose a loan deal.

A national league team offered my son a year long loan, which would have been superb for him at his age, offered to pay ages and his accomodation, an absolute no brainer, but his club refused it (even though all agreed up to the final point).

Whilst no explanation given, I get the impression its more to do, with the club wanting to sort their own loans out (club favours so to speak), whole transfer and loans thing has been a massive eye opener for me having gone through it this summer, but one thing its not necessarily about picking loans for players, but filling requirements if and when they come around, and even then ensuring that players are happy (these are kids still), wages and home situations work too, there is actually a fair bit going on, before they even get on the football pitch.

I know our own @Lilywhite Rose broke the news last night

Yep, Matty and his brother Mike were on their holidays this summer with my son, so did a fair bit of off season training together, this lad is seriously focused on his football (as is his brother too), really polite young men, so really hoping for another successful loan for him.

Good stuff mate always good to get some snippets on what players are like off the field.
Hope it works out for them (and obviously your young lad) given they're that focused and putting in that sort of effort.

Yeah, I meet a few of the younger ones in all sorts of clubs, that basic foundation of communication, manners etc goes a long way, especially outside of the football world too, its a small world for these lads when inside the game.

This was really informative. Thank you

I wish your son all the best as he develops his career.
