Going to be interesting how Jose deals with likes of Parrott, japhet etc but particularly Troy as he seems a stand out youth player.
Doesn't have a great history of trusting youth so let's see what happens.

Well. Now he will be aware he won't have the money he previously had so he will need to take a look at the academy.

I don't think this is necessarily bad for Spurs Youth teams.

JM is on record for saying he likes a small squad (22 being optimal). So, on the one hand, we can be sure that we won't be keeping players like Wanyama, Vorm, 3 players competing at LB, 3 players competing at RB. It will free up space in the squad that can allow Youth players to move into if we get injuries.

At the same time not having a bloated squad of players will likely mean Skipp, Tanganga, KWP, Parrot won't be stuck in purgatory because they will get loan deals and be able to progress. If they do well and perform that can only be good for them whether they stay or not.

Jose's first training session (8 min video on the Spurs app) shows him and other new staff taking an interest in Tanganga with a few one on one interactions. Does it mean anything? Who knows, but he doesn't seem to have faded into a cloud of dust now Poch is gone.

Edit:

One of said interactions, an especially interesting one maybe.

What happens to Poch Jr?

Must be pretty uncomfortable for the kid. I hope the people at the club let him know how much his dad was loved here and always will be.

The flipside is I now doubt Winks has much of a long term future. He kind of is the total opposite of a Mourinho midfielder. Mourinho likes specialist midfielders...not really someone who can do a bit of this well and a bit of that well without truly excelling at one.

If he’s good enough to make the grade I’m sure everyone will be happy for him to do it at Spurs.

How the hell Jack.A, whoever that is, got 'He marked Cristiano Ronaldo, make him known." from that clip I have no idea. I've watched it five times and I haven't the foggiest what it was he said. It migth as well have been, 'Oi lad, you're in my spot,' turns to his assistant and says 'pfft. Bloody kids today,'

He did play Mctominay quite a bit at 19yrs old and he is now one of their best players.

Mctominay spoke extremely highly of him very recently

One of his favourite players was essien and he wasnt a specialist just excellent in everything

He gave Scott McTominay a chance and OGS seems to be very found of him. He’s saying that if the right talent is presented, he’ll use them

Essien could do a bit of everything but he could also play anywhere. Winks can't do that. He's a midfield recycler who can play in front of the back four or slightly further forward. As much as I love Winks, that's not a particularly broad skill base.

Winks is not excellent in everything. He's not excellent in anything. A good little player who got promoted to a higher status than he should have. If he's here long term it's as a squad option but the reason I have doubts over his future now is he might now switch places with Dier in the pecking order. We all thought Dier in midfield was over but remember, Mourinho wanted him at United instead of Matic initially.

I agree I just meant essien didnt have a designated role so he doesnt necessarily want a socialist positional player

Pretty sure he did mark him in pre-season didn't he?

Apparently in the 11 months he has been off, he has worked on a new strategy and philosophy, so who knows what that will look like, it could mean Winks is the key to it ,surplus to requirements or anything in between.

As others have said, I don't think losing Poch and gaining Mourinho is going to affect our academy. If anything as others have said it will most likely have a positive effect as we will most likely get players out on loan and others have already said he has brought through as many players into United's first team as Poch has. Only difference is there will probably be less arguments as Mourinho doesn't have a rep for bring through academy players, so there will likely be less constant defending but also less expectation in this area.

Poch was here for 5/6 years and at the start people hailed him as some genius at bringing through academy players. If anyone had said at the start of his tenure he'd only bring through 1 player people wouldn't believe it and would most likely have considered it a failure in this department but now instead people somehow managed to excuse and justify it, this all while we were producing the most talent we've had.

I'll miss Poch as a manager but I think he missed an opportunity with our academy. He ended up having fans criticising the clubs and it's academy in an effort to defend him despite the academy doing just as well as it always had. I have little expectation in Mourinho using the academy, which means it will be a lot less frustrating when he doesn't. Hopefully we'll actually be able to start generating money through loans now

Winks is very much like Tiago.
I think you may find yourself surprised at how much Winks fits in to the side
