Its absolute bollocks that Sessegnon, Gedson or N'Dombele don't come on. Instead we look to add more in the middle. Why Winks for Son?
We have a direct quote from Mourinho regarding why he brought Winks on. It was to keep the ball away from West Ham. It worked fine.

Good steady performance from the team. We had a good amount about us in the end.

I guess I should say more about our lads, but I was really impressed with Bowen. I feel for the lad as he may have jumped from the Championship to the wrong club and find himself back there next year. I wouldn't have been upset with the lad being signed by us back in January, but not at the expense of Bergwijn.

I'd be interested in a few of their players TBH, Bowen, Rice and Cresswell even Antonio could be useful, they'd not sell to us anyway so it's a bit moot.

As an aside why do we shit ourselves minutes away from halftime or just after we've scored? It's better than it was but there's still a lack of brain/game management on display, 1-0 up vs Man U and 4-5 minutes to halftime and sure as anything a spell of giving the ball/silly fouls/dithering in possession putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure, trying to see a match out and the usual suspects become a bloody liability.
Similar with the game last night, the O.G happens we immediately forget how to play simple passes and give the ball away. A simple spell of putting you foot on the ball and keep possession for a few minutes and calms that right down.

One other thing and it may be just me imagining it but we're terrible for turning our backs on ball when we give away throws/corners/freekicks, drummed in as a kid, play to the whistle and don't turn your back on the ball, again we've improved but it drives me batty, perhaps TV makes it look worse than it is. Does anyone else see it or just me over reacting?

Yes I know we won, yes I'm pleased, it's just an observation.

All this season my usual rituals brought the team f**k all and just gave me the hump, so upon the restart I was determined to stop that nonsense, inadvertently ended up with lucky shirt and kecks on for both games and we get 4 points (should've been 6) so that's that tradition being kept then.

Really depends on West Ham's position. There has been a lot of talk that they might be in a dire financial situation if they go down.

I know some don't like Levy but he will spend where he sees value or an opportunity.
He's had opportunities in the past and let them slip by offering a figure that is well below their value. Grealish is a recent example.

This is such an apt description of how superstition works by confirmation bias that it made me chuckle. And you obviously know it already, but you do it anyway!

What you have described is multiple experimental uses of your superstition demonstrating that there is no correlation with success: "All this season my usual rituals brought the team f**k all".

Then the experiment "works" once, so "that's that tradition being kept then."

It works once and that's "proof". It fails multiple times and that's just "bad luck". Confirmation bias, distilled.

I don't get it. I've never got it.

It's just to help people relax and be more confident.

It's a shame he can't just focus on what has happened in these 2 games.

Have our systems been frail and fragile in these 2 games?
Where is the "conclusion" that Eric Dier may be over his injuries and can compete to be a 1st choice CB.
Where is the "conclusion" that Steven Bergwijn could prove to have a value that far exceeds his fee?

Does he really think that H getting 250K a week basic is not adequate and the only reason he has been overplayed is that he must stay on to get more money?
It's a terrible article really.

Like ' Lo Celso is too aggressive to be an orthodox central midfielder'. Erm okk? Can you at least tell me what this means?

For me the midfield didn't have a holder but both Lo Celso and Sissoko are very capable of winning tackles and all that.

A half-time statistic: Giovani Lo Celso had 61 touches of the ball, Harry Kane just 19.

Erm, 19 touches is actually quite a lot for a Centre Forward in a half of football. A centre forward on average will touch the ball anything between 20 to 50 times a match. 19 in half a match is pretty good. You are comparing a central midfielder to a striker c'mon.

19 touches in a half of football is the opposite of marginalised. Do you have any idea what your numbers actually are showing?

Now, he isn’t even getting chances.

He is getting chances. He had 6 shots in this game and he had at least 3 good chances, he could of scored a hattrick. If anything he was wasteful.

He would find a way onto the scoresheet eventually, yes, but only after the game had broken open and it’s not typical for Kane to have to rely on circumstantial opportunity.

What are 'circumstantial opportunities', isn't everything in football 'circumstantial'. I think its perfectly normal to rely on these kind of opportunities. You are making it sound that Kane should be expected to score every game, which is unfair.

He stays on the pitch because his contract is so incentive-based and always has been. If he’s not playing, he has no chance of getting paid as someone of his standing should.

And you think it would be in the clubs interests for him to always play then? If that was the case he would be playing less not more. Harry Kane is one of the highest paid footballers in the PL. He plays often because he wants to be playing every minute.

He’ll stop being a credible deep-lying playmaker and just become one of those generic stoppers, known purely for what they do without the ball.

Rice is not and never will be a 'deep-lying playmaker'. his future in football is definitely to become a 'generic stopper' which is great as that is a great position to fill and one which few England players are able to do.
