Just seen highlights having been at the game
I maintain it’s a foul on Vicario, Rogers pushes him across the goal line before he scored
Villa have a bunch of average players. Playing an anti football system which works. Look for soft fouls, slow the game down, rely on set pieces. Whilst happy to foul us to slow our play whenever possible. Glad we’ve given them another beating. I have no problem losing or finishing below teams that play football, Villa do not

after a charming walk to 7 sisters and 90+ to the hotel, there was way too much time. some observations for a first timer to the new stadium.
  • one of our own is far better than Stella if you want to watch the entire game
  • The stadium is beyond words. It is magnificent. Kudos to Danny.
  • The fans were 110% behind the team and the noise is deafening. that is a two edged sword with a team with our mentality. The players fed off of it.
  • no one in my section had their phones out. Serious fans.
  • Seeing Solanke live gave a chance to watch Dom including when the camera wasn't on him. His workrate is obvious but his decision making and positional sense was Toby like if Toby was a striker. he is agreat fit for Anges system.
  • Sarr was outstanding. The first game I can remember him imposing his will on the game and we need players who can do that.
  • there were affectionate groans when Ben came on but his performance quieted everyone.
  • Radu continues to impress.
  • Vicario was good but does not command the box. It is a problem if he doesn't correct it.
  • Kulu is well, Kulu. Probably the biggest surprise this season in terms of expectations compared to actual contribution.
it was a phenomenal game and day. COYs

I think the most worrying part of our team.

I have never seen him dominate his area, and would love to see us buy a keeper in January or next Summer. With all due respects Forster baring injury is never going to get ahead of him.

Look at the "top four" they all have quality between the sticks.

Less than half the teams in the Premier League play 'football' these days in the sense you refer to.

City, Liverpool, us, Chelsea, Brighton, Bournemouth sometimes,
Forest sometimes, arsenal (when they're not parking the bus). That might be it and that's generous to some of them.

And because we're one of the best teams at playing football, all we usually see is anti football/ parked buses set to disrupt and stop us from playing and negate our threat.

It's actually pretty poor from the alleged best league in the world. The technical quality is below par and explains why England looked leagues below Spain from a technical standpoint in the Euros.

Villa are a case in point. 6th in the league. Good at what they do but overall technically poor and mainly play counter attacking anti football.

If you’re blaming Vicario for their goal then I would suggest it’s a confirmation bias, because you can’t pin the blame on him one bit there. Porro flicks it on at the near post, Bentancur then heads it goalwards to which Vicario makes a great save only for the unmarked player who had been bothering the keeper on all previous set plays to tap in from 2 yards. There’s plenty of blame to go around to various players, but not Vic

And all those top four keepers make mistakes. I think they may have better defenders in front of their keepers.

Excellent result, performance was solid if unspectacular for the first 75 minutes picked up a fair bit after that.

Watched on the US on USA network and Stephen Warnock was co-commentator. Was endless Villa wankfest with howamazing they were, I had to switch to the Spanish commentary.

Wish we could have neutral commentary rather than ex players of the club , It genuinely creates a completely false narrative that so many buy in to. I on the other hand was jumping about in my PJ’s shouting Vamos.

I didn't realize it was Warnock, but have listened to his "commentary" before.

Totally bias, and that's not just against Spurs.

There is no rule that you have to play football, I dont disparage or disrespect what any team does as long as its within the law. Apart from us I would rather Villa win the league than Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City or Liverpool (in that order). I fully respect how Emery has turned that club around.

Im too lazy to do the research how many goals have we conceded this season from set pieces for pundits etc to be labelling us not good at defending set pieces? Im getting older so cant remember every goal we conceded this season but Im sure its max 2-3 from corners?

Think it’s just Gabriel for Arsenal and now Rogers today.

Thats what I thought and I saw the stat/narrative from whatever stream I was watching and thought oh they are referencing 2024 as a whole not solely this season. Is it lazy punditry?

That's a top performance today. Full plaudits to the team. Villa are going to be up there with us this season and that was a big statement made
