The second half was almost like the wearing down of them in the first half paying off. They just couldn't get back into it once the tide turned.

Excellent result. The team is night and day different when Sarr is on it. Another mid like him, be they signed or developed from the CMs we already have on the books, is a must.

If 4 results involving Forest, Arsenal/Chelsea, Villa and us go our way next weekend we could go third. All of a sudden looking quite tight in the fight tor top 4.

Just in from the match, talk about a game of two halves! Massive win.

First thing I’ll do is hold my hands up in apology to Pape Sarr - I thought he was a clunky and limited workhorse but how wrong I was. He was everywhere today and made us tick, which was especially huge as Kulu had a quiet one. He stood up today and nailed his spot, no doubt.

Delighted for Solanke, he’s been very good without getting the goals and he runs his bollocks off every game. The first finish was unreal for a guy who’s gone a few without one. He’s the perfect forward for this team right now.

The only two blots for me were Romero, who wasn’t missed after he went off, and our keeper, who we urgently need to replace.

Read a few comments here saying he wasn’t at fault - maybe came across like that on TV, but the whole stadium knew we were conceding from that corner once he got bullied and flustered by Villa. His flapping and over the top screaming spreads panic and anxiety to the team and fans, and he also gave it the billy big bollocks to Gray, like he did Bergvall, two 18 year olds. Our most easily upgradable spot.

Massive 3 points, we’re right back in the mix. Let’s get 3 more at Ipswich and keep it going.

I never thought we would have beaten Citeh and Villa this week. Absolutely excellent. I will try to be more positive in future re Spurs!
This was a huge win, arguably Ange's best win for us, against real rivals and a quality side, and really kick starts our PL season. Delighted to have been there. Nice to see a direct free kick too, can't remember when our last one was!

He had no chance because Porro flicked it on at the near post. Watch it again on TV. Not at fault for this one.

Still don’t see how he was at fault. Makes a great stop to prevent the own goal and then the lack of anyone marking Rogers means he has an open goal. There is nothing Vicario can do — but not watched it back admittedly.

Yeah true, not technically his fault.

But the panic he instills in the team and crowd is undeniable. The reason opposition players stand on him because he is physically weak and has zero presence.

He gets flustered and panicky, and it definitely has an impact. It’s intangible, but the whole stadium knew we were conceding once that corner came in, it was not a surprise at all.

whilst the narrative around our set piece defending remains as it is then fans and probably our players will remain nervous at every corner. That was only our second goal conceded from a corner yet the first thing the commentator said when they scored was something about our Achilles heel being exposed again.

I think it’s the chaos he creates. It’s a bit like Gomes. You really don’t know what he is going to do.

The biggest benefit we got from Friedel was consistency in decision making. You knew he wasn’t coming at corners so you could account. For it. Our defenders look like they don’t know if Vicario is going to pull a superman, stay, control it, punch it, catch it, etc. that’s a genuine nightmare for defenders as it’s all about consistency.

That also extends beyond corners to playing out from the back too imo

Someone's probably already posted this but I can't be bothered to read back all the pages I've missed, anyway this was nice to read:

Aston Villa captain John McGinn: "We've got to keep our heads a wee bit in there and have some perspective. Many teams will come here and suffer that defeat.

"It got loud. Probably as loud as I've heard it as an away player."

Well, I spoke with the east stand and they were at the bar when it went in and so doesn't know what you're talking about. But the sky walk had the best view, and it said the keeper was unlucky.
