Was our last direct freekick goal the last game of the 18/19 season at home to Everton with Eriksen scoring to make it 2-2?

Villa had very little attacking intent, they were happy sitting back and clearly even more so 1-0 up. We desperately needed to up the intensity and did that immediately after half time.
They struggled to live with us then. Thought the Son sub was odd as we were starting to turn the screw but worked out fine.
Special mention to Dragusin and particularly Solanke but motm was Sarr for me. I said after West Ham his energy is badly needed and leaving him out against Palace backfired. He has to keep the shirt now.

Massive win against a very good Villa side.

Let's not forget they rested most of their players, whilst we had a tough game against city.

One to enjoy this weekend!

Dragusin, Deki, solanke and sarr can hold their head up high after this game. Bentancur was important defensively in the first half too even if he was lucky not to be carded before HT.

A great way to cap off the week and very good turnaround showing lots of character and stepping up when under pressure: the next steps are to now keep it consistent in the league. Thought great belief and mental strength was shown today considering both of our first choice CBs are out of action and Villa are good at housery as well as being a solid team.

Keep the faith everyone we’ve got an exciting young squad battling on all four fronts with being in the cup comps. COYS!!!

I am starting to wonder whether we’re actually progressing as a team
The next step is to see the same team and performances away from home that we do at home...

But home form and performances are terrific, and has shown the potential of the players and system.

That’s two great wins this week although at some cost by way of injuries.
First half we lacked the intensity that we had against City but in the second half we really upped the ante and blew Villa away.
Whatever people think about Postecoglu and his tactics you can’t deny that he has instilled a team spirit.
Whatever he said at HT galvanized the team and on top of that he got all his substitutions spot on.
Unsung hero but I thought Sarr was MOM. He seemed to be everywhere.

Great result and fantastic 2nd half performance.

Sarr and Solanke both outstanding. Especially happy for Solanke and finally being rewarded with the goals all his hard work has deserved. Lovely finish with his first.

Only down side, all the fucking injuries are starting to tot up. But what a great win.....COYS
