Very uncomfortable too see us starting without Eriksen
For all the criticism and commitment issues he is consistently a huge source of assists and of goals for us over a season
I wish Lamela well and he had a good preseason but you never know what you are going to get from him
He can be so ineffective
I also agree that the midfield has a defensive look about it more suitable for away v City than home v Villa
Bottom line I am very nervous
In the old days Spurs losing was common and we were always going to be also rans Now we are consistent top 4 contenders and every game counts and it is never relaxing!

Just as poch gets irrate when journalists ask him about transfers, nor is he ever going to drop a player because of a contract situation between a player and the club which is Levy's department. He has always shown that he picks his team based on how players are performing in training and fitness/fatigue/tactical reasons only. Eriksen would never be dropped just because he doesn't sign a new contract or because he says he is open to a new challenge. He does get dropped if these issues start affecting his mindset and how is training during the week which is probably what happened here. Jan doesn't get dropped for any reason outside of footballing ones, in this case I suspect he is not 100% fit and they are saving him for City

Most supporters have moaned about Eriksen. So it makes sense that he is benched. I would have maybe brought a youngster from the academy for the bench.. Roles etc. We don't need Skip Dier and Wanyama on this occasion.

Jan said he hopes the club will offer him a new contract, why would he have been dropped for not signing a contract when he hasn't been offered one? Toby in the lineup, no contract and Eriksen is on the bench after having not yet signed a contract.

When we have a player missing the squad due to injury after team news is released during the week, the club always tweet it after the team is announced.

Vert has definitely been dropped and left out of the squad. Such a strange situation and no doubt Poch will be completely vague on the situation.
