We laboured thru a game, down to ten men, make your own excuses. They played very well, opposition a yard off the pace, job done. A good run out for many, Biss was productive, papa done well, never a doubt in the result.
United on Sunday a testing game. Good run out, Ange adapting to different style. End of the day, we won, opposition were poor..

There's some absolutely top tier winding-up of Arsenal fans taking place about playing offensively with 10 men and they're biting on all of it. They can't help themselves.

If you mean Radu, then letting the bloke have a shot would have been better than playing 80+ mins down a man and getting himself banned
That’s true, but I also think their striker was quite happy to get in a tangle and go down.

Easy to focus on Radu, but how we keep getting in these 1:1 situations is still a concern.

Surprised at people being so negative. Thought we played well given 10 men for the entire game.

We didn't retreat and tried to play our game and attack whilst maintaining decent control most of the time. Of course we're going to give up some chances doing that. Feel like some people expect prime Barca every game.

Really proud of the lads. Sarr and Solanke were excellent

More like sometimes when we go down a man, sane fans expect us to play like Atleti. Any other day or any other team, number of chances we gave would have let the opponent into game.

We should be thanking Vicario and poor Qarabag finishers

It's a shame we had such an early sending off in terms of getting Dragusin and Bergvall up to speed. And for the team to develop a bit more in terms of implementing a game plan rather than the helter skelter that happened. But the outcome is great and gets us off to a strong start in the new Europa format.

Any sane fan realises that going down to 10 men after 7 mins makes it incredibly hard to win the game no matter who you’re facing. We’ve beaten Luton this way and now Qarabag. No guarantee going prime Diego Simeone would have made it any easier and I doubt we would have got a better result.

Tonight was the textbook example to demonstrate the merits of the Europa League. It’s the perfect competition for us at this stage of our development. If we were playing CL opposition under the same circumstances we probably would’ve been murdered, but instead we got a big win, our youngsters get blooded and exposed at a decent level, the likes of Johnson and Solanke continue to build their form and confidence, and individually and collectively the team can adapt and learn from mistakes without heavy repercussions. The heavier fixture load is an advantage while the team is still gelling and struggling for consistency. As disappointing as it was to miss out on CL qualification last season, I think we’ll be far better off in the long run for the extra year of development and maturity. And of course it’s a great opportunity to break our trophy drought.

I don't think this team and group of players right now would have done better in that game trying to play like Athleti. We're not drilled in it, it doesn't suit us, we'd have lost all rhymn and still given up chances without creating anything. If the red card was on 65 mins fine but we can't sit back and soak after 7 mins!

We will need that string to our bow in time but right now I think we played that game the right way, even if it meant riding some luck

Some of you are absolutely miserable. Can’t even enjoy us winning games for fear of what might or might not happen
I take your point. And it’s not that there aren’t elements to enjoy from that.

But play it again five times and we lose several of them if we play like that with 10 men.

I reckon 9/10 points will guarantee you make the 24. So a win tonight was all that mattered under the circumstances.

Think we need to take the Ferencvaros game with more discipline and hopefully beat AZ at home, then we set ourselves up really well to aim for that top 8.

Perhaps we start with the same 11 (Romero in for Dragusin) and gradually change more players.

Personally I feel that how this game panned out justifies the way Ange went about it.

I don't know what we would achieve trying to play in a way that we're not trained to play at that stage in a game. If we sat deep we wouldn't have scored the goals that we needed to win the game. The first goal (the winner) came from us pressing high and having men available.

You can say, and someone does every week, that playing so open a better team would rodger us, but they never seem to anyway. I think some look at every missed chance and expect better teams to put them away, but they don't either, and neither do we put away good chances as it's football and nothing is a certainty.

You can say that we have to thank Vic for putting in a shift and saving everything, but having him there is part of the plan and other sides also field a capable goalkeeper.

We rode our luck and created well enough ourselves to win the game on merit, and we did, so I cannot fault the way that we went about it and would 1000% rather watch that game with us trying to score goals while a man down than to watch us park the bus for 80 mins and probably still lose to a header from the 20th corner we conceded from sitting so deep while playing to hopefully win 1-0.

That’s probably the only criticism I have, the high line and fullbacks pushing forward can always yield a mistake like Radu’s today. I know most will blame him, and that’s fair enough but it really is just an unfortunate possible byproduct of the system.

Surely statistically most teams would lose most games playing pretty much the entire match with 10 men.

The way I see it we had more chance of getting a result going toe to toe than sitting deep for 80 mins and probably conceding a late goal.

They generated 2.22xG but 0.76 of it was from a bullshit penalty they shouldn’t have got.

Without that we had more xG than them (1.5 to 1.46) and we had 10 men for about 88 minutes.
