I suspect he is under strict instructions to be conservative. Jose seems to like this lop sided defense
This is Mourinho's plan. Here's a quote from a Guardian article:
“If you want to know what I wanted to do, look at my first game against West Ham,” said Mourinho earlier this month. “That’s the way I thought I was going to develop the team. Defend with a back four; attack with a back three. That means that my left-back defends as a left-back and then, when we attack, my left-back becomes one of the three in the back. Build with three, protect the right-back and do overloads on the other side. That was the way I wanted to develop the team. That was the first day of unlucky: goodbye Ben Davies.”

Mourinho’s plan was to use a back four when his team did not have the ball and then, as soon as they gained possession, change shape to a back three and go on the attack. Davies would tuck in as a third centre-back and give right-back Serge Aurier the freedom to break forward and join the attack. With Eric Dier working as a shield in midfield and Harry Winks setting the tempo, it was a system that worked well.

Lo Celso everywhere defensively and super creative so far. Can't wait until we have properly balanced midfield with a #6, Ndombele, and Lo Celso and Gio becomes Eriksen who actually puts in a tackle.

Yes, easily MOM first half.

As cocky as it was, it's this type of skill that you need to open up defences... we should do this sort of thing more often.

Yet everyone goes mental when Dele tries a flick. Confusing bunch aren't we!

lamela's rabona
the good: looks cool
the bad: necessary since he can't use his right foot at all
Tony gale was saying how lamela is just as good with either foot. He also said Ipswich is the closest premier league ground to Norwich ?‍♂️

Im now firmly of the belief that we cannot have Lucas or Dele on the pitch at the same time. Both quite sporadic and move killers. One of them yes. Two of them just makes the forward play so disjointed.

Really disappointed with Sessegon. He looks scared of making a mistake and so makes mistakes. Isn't playing with any confidence.

Bit harsh. He’s a young lad who’s been out with injury most of the season and is now having to make a big step up while we’re on a dreadful run of form.

I’m glad Jose keeps giving him starts, the confidence will come. Clearly has bags of pace and technical ability

Not a bad half. I like how amwe are nipping back possession across the pitch but perhaps just a yard or so slow at times on the press. Lo Celso has to be signed - He is mustard.

Anyone still arguing about whether we should sign Lo Celso. Very good player, who works hard off the ball too. Also, Aurier one our best again....
