Loads of injuries. Everything against us atm. Leaving aside shit tactics generally by Ange why are we so tactically naive ???

Joelinton - nasty bastard. Why the hell do we not make a bit about it ? We just seem so nice all the bloody time.

Id have taken johnaon off, and moved kulu to rw
Yeah I think the positive outlook at the moment is the young players are getting real valuable minutes and by next season, they should be much more ready for the next step.

Gray and Bergvall would likely have featured a lot in EL and had occasional minutes in the PL.

Now they have has serious game time in tough conditions.

That will advance their years.

just a shame Moore got injured

At the end of the day if we carry on achieving an average of 1.2 points per game as per your workings out we ARE relegation contenders whether it’s this season or next and whether you agree or not.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 👍

I'm sure we will catch up in the Ange thread at some other point.

Thats been the one promising part of our season. The experience our young players are getting in difficult circumstances.

I love how Bergval has grown in confidence as he has got more used to the premier league. For such a young player he has a great mentality.

Hope Moore is fit enough to get some game time towards the end of the season.

Just watched the game on delay, sweet mother of god the TNT commentary was atrocious. I know it's partly because of the tough situation we're in at the moment but mainstream punditry / commentary is so unbearable at the moment.

Rough result, I was as angry as Ange in that first half. Their first goal was ridiculous, Joelinton should have been sent off with 3 quick yellow card worthy fouls but how Burn stayed on was beyond me.

Thought you could see evidence of this sickness through the team so fair bloody play to the team, the youngest we've put out in almost a decade I believe thought they fought as hard as they could.

Main positives; I doubt Austin plays a big part in the clubs future but that will hopefully be a game he looks back on with plenty of pride for a proper Spurs lad, did himself proud. Porro's return to form, Bergval's continued growth in that role, Solanke doing a heroes job up top again, Biss / Maddison cameos both positive and fair bloody play to Spence and Gray who had a few shaky moments but did great as a wild CB pairing.

It's going to get darker before the light, choosing to remain calm. Man a victory would taste so sweet right now.

I thought they'd get it mostly in EL and League Cup which I'd have been totally happy with as long as we were healthy in the league.

But the injuries have made our league form desperate and you are right, the positive is that it's pushing them to the fore.

A bit like Chelsea last season I think. Palmer and players like that wouldn't have had much game time at a team already competing but it's given them the platform to establish themselves and grow.

My worry, as always, is that we don't look to build on it.

It's alright these players coming to the fore. But the intention should be to buy better players than the likes of Bissouma, Johnson etc so that we give the young players even more drive and chance to get better.

Pundits going on about his arm is by his side but surely it lead to a goal scoring opportunity.
Disallowed in European comps.
They are all told what to say. Only Karen Carney was talking sense. The pass by Bergvall was going to Porro, Joelinton intercepted the ball with his hand, ball falls to Guimares who does through ball to Gordon who scores. Never in the world of football have I seen that allowed. This would be never be allowed against Liverpool or any of the teams who are the darlings of the media. It’s a sick joke.

Still waiting for the PGMOL explanation as to why the goal was allowed, given it was so contentious.

They’ve already explained why Arsenal conceded a penalty.(that was clear as day the correct decision)

Can only assume there is no explanation as they cannot explain it. (Or because it’s us and we don’t make a big enough fuss about it)

A post on the Premier League Match Centre read: "The referee’s call of goal was confirmed by VAR, who checked for a potential handball by Joelinton in the build-up and deemed that his arm was by his side, in a natural position and the contact was accidental."

The fact he was a good amount of distance from Bergval and the simple result of it hitting his hand make it an utterly stupid decision.

It was the right call.

Since 21/22, inadvertent handballs in the build up will only rule out a goal, if the hand ball was by the player who scores.

The only check was to see if the hands were in an unnatural position - they were not.

I remember this. Shuddering.
I remember that season! Watching us through the gates with my mate as we couldn't get in (you could just about see one 1/4 of the pitch/goal), I believe we played at Wimbledon and Klinsmann scored 4!

Letter of the law and all that but we all see open play handballs given for far less. VAR aren't the issue, the woeful ref was, play should have stopped immediately, long before the goal and for it to ever be an even potential talking point.

So in that case the rule is incorrectly applied 99% of the time??

If that is the correct interpretation then why was Kulusevski penalised for handball in today’s game?

We’re not too good to go down,

my worry is if we get dragged into a relegation battle, we simply do not have the characters in the squad to get out of it
Come on mate, you're like a dog with a bone re. relegation. That's all you've talked about throughout the thread. We're not getting relegated. Too many worse teams around us.

It's an unfortunate call - but I can't be fussed by it. Joelinton's arms were in a natural position, Bergvall toe poked the ball up right in front of him, and there was nothing he could do.

It's not a handball by the law. Period.

I’d rather lose today the way we did than win it how the team that utterly sold their souls did.

Desperate to draw them in the cup and get one over on them cause I fucking hate them so much. Lived with a Geordie at uni so they were almost a second team but since they let themselves be hollowed out for some success I’ve found them to be wholly unpleasant for a team which has for the past 20 years been dugmeat.

I do think their takeover is going to be a monkey paw for them in the long run. Post World Cup I could see the Saudi’s losing interest and them completely falling to the wayside - which to an extent has already happened with their reduced spending after the initial splurge. Frankly they deserve it as much as City for giving up all that was good about them to the first investor who flashed their knickers.

Taking Bergvall off was ludicrous. And I don't want to hear "he is too young". He was probably our best player out there
