Hard to see anything other than an absolute trouncing. They're in top form with a fully fit squad. Isak the best player in the league outside of Liverpool up against Gray and Dragusin. Would be surprised if we concede fewer than 5. Happy New year.

Got to agree unfortunately.

Newcastle will come flying at us I suspect. I could see it being similar to that game a couple of seasons back where we 4 down to them after about 20 minutes.

They have a few issues in defence but yeah I am hoping for a draw unfortunately. I kind of hope they batter us and we nick the win. Would be payback for earlier in the season. Would be great to see them moan.

Hard to see us winning but If we do it could be by a big score.

mental season, mental team. They have had a weeks rest so will be interesting to see if they are looking refreshed.

They have Pope out, a couple defenders injured and Schar is suspended. We can get at them, it's just keeping Isak and co out long enough.

High scoring game me thinks.

I can see us come flying out, score one or two, concede a few on the break then get utterly tonked.

Yeah I don't think this will be anything like the Liverpool match. Especially for the fact our players haven't had a mid week match for the first time since October. That additional freshness will at least help us play closer to our normal game. Rather than leaving open spaces due to not having the legs to press effectively.

I actually have a sneaky suspicion that Romero, VDV, Davies, or Richarlison might make the squad as well.

Sold my season ticket on TicEx for £109. That’s ludicrous.

Watched us get mauled by Liverpool, lose a lead (again) to Wolves, crumble at Chelsea, nearly self-destruct against Man Utd in the cup and struggle to breakdown Ipswich with only the Southampton result in the last few home games to provide some cheer.

So, wasn’t feeling the notion of another 8-hour round trip to watch us play the Toon and used the money to fund some Xmas presents.

Not optimistic but I know on our day we can compete. Just hard when you see the players clearly knackered managing 20min of good football then lose the stamina to compete.

Hoping for a win but voted with my head and expect a Newcastle 4-2 reverse.

We've had a decent rest and we seem to do better against the teams we're not expected to do well against. Think we'll nick a win 8-7.

The last 5 games between us.

1 Sep 2024 - Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham
13 Apr 2024 - Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham
10 Dec 2024 - Tottenham 4-1 Newcastle
23 Apr 2023 - Newcastle 6-1 Tottenham
23 Oct 2022 - Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle

So we've scored 7 goals versus Newcastle's 15...

We are at home at least...

High scoring game yes 👍

But their attackers and their midfield are so so so strong at the moment... their defence is not bad either... a couple of clean sheets lately... in form team. Very tricky fixture.

I hope we can get at them... as you say... because we need a couple of quick goals from us... use the energy we have from our little new years break... and then change from the bench as good as possible before we run out of steam.

We have to go for pace, fast passes and trickery in midfield and attack... because we will lose if we try battle with them or if they are allowed to kerp their shape/control the tempo.... Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton are too strong physically for us... and the only way we can hurt them is to swarm around them. And get people and balls into dangerous areas.... and shoot dammit... shoot !!

And avoid all the stupid errors... they have many players who can punish us... both with shots and headers... don't give silly free kicks and corners away.

The week's break will hopefully help a lot, especially for guys like Kulu, Solanke and Porro. And like you say perhaps one or two might return to the bench at least. I think we could win tomorrow, I just don't think we do it with a clean sheet.

We are one of the top scoring sides in the league, so I think we can score against most teams when we are on it going forward. It's just the other way where I have my concerns against someone like Isak on the top of his game.

You're right... agree... that's why we have to keep the energy high as long as possible... and minimize errors and stupid free kicks and corners in our half... it's difficult with the defence we have at the moment... but we have to be on the front foot and go for it.

They have so many weapons at the moment it's a huge task to keep them out anyway...

Energy, fresh legs and bravery... don't hide or look scared.... stay focused and don't make stupid choices.

I would play both Kulu and Madders from the start like at City... we need their movement and skills... if it get's too static or easy to read we will lose.

We need the players from the start who can do many things with the ball and the way they move. Sarr and Biss will probably be in central midfield... so Kulu in front of them... Madders instead of either Son or Johnson... maybe the couple of days extra rest will have worked wonders for our captain 😁 ?

The defence will pick itself... once again... in a negative way.
Same with Solanke... although he could use some minutes on the bench as well.

If we can get some quick goals or are in front in the second half... Solanke could be subbed for some speed/pace (Werner, Johnson) .. if Newcastle have to take risks. And we can go on the counter.

Yes yes... I'm dreaming 😏😏

Hard to see us getting anything again unless we put away all our chances which we will get. Probably be another high scoring game but hopefully we come out the right side of it.

Would go with this 11
Forster
Porro Dragusin Gray Spence
Bissouma Sarr
Johnson Kulu Madders
Solanke

We're getting nowhere near them. Im actually dreading it. Isak up against our put together defence and system generally.

This would be a tough game with a full squad.

What sort of line up are we expecting?

My guess is:
Forster
Porro - Dragusin - Gray - Spence
Kulusevski - Bissouma - Sarr
Johnson - Solanke - Son

Probably not what I'd choose tho.

Spot on... although I hope Madders will start instead of Son... or Johnson.
