If having a big lump up top to win us penalties is the way forward, surely we need to make Weg our no 1 priority purchase?

However much we got fucked by the ref in the lead up to the pen and the ridiculous nature of the handball rule, if you're only 1-0 up to a team that's more than happy to 'lump-it-to-the-big-man' then you're asking for trouble. We started to bottle it at the end epitomised by Ben Davies' completely irrational attempt to hoof clear straight into Hojbjerg's chest that could have gone anywhere.

We need calmer heads in defence and greater precision in front of goal. Kane's red and Sonny's hamstring completely fucks us. Just when things were looking so rosy too. I feel like there's an appropriate adjective for this just can't think what it is...

Great tweet from Ben Foster:

I’ve never seen more solidarity around an officiating decision before. Piss fucking poor. ROBBED.

Thought it was one of our best performances under Mourinho, shitty, ridiculous penalty aside, happy with it.

So I went out at full time just to get some fresh air. I have just come back on again and have started to read this thread where I left off. I've only readf about 10 pages, but for anyone saying it's our own fault for not scoring more, and there are quite a few of you, you are entitled to your opinion, but it's not our oqn fault.

93 minutes or whatever it was, we were deservedly 1-0 up (i know we should have scored more), but we were deservedly 1-0, and taht was taken away from us by a bullshit law, that no one in football agrees with. Listen to Roy yesterday, Steve Bruce today, everyone thiks it's wrong and it is ruining the game.

I wil still watch football, because I still love this club, but my love for the game has been waining for a while because of the money in it, but this is really pushing me away from it.

Someone, somewhere in a position of power and change must realise that this is ruining the game and hardly any one wants it.

So yes, we should have scored more, but it really isn't our fault today that we didn't get all 3 points, so please don't use this bullshit as a stick to beat the team with.

The ref today (Peter Bankes) is a scouser in case anyone's wondering. And it was the first game he's officiated in the PL this season after he initially got promoted last season (where he only officiated 11 games and not one of them involved the top 4 clubs).

He's also on LinkedIn should anyone wish to air their grievances towards him :cautious:

Not the first time he's been called out by a manager either (although it's Lee Bowyer so make that what you will)

If Spurs play that well every week you win 99% of the games. Apart from the finishing the positives can nearly make up for the result.

Exactly, is there anyone who thinks the game of football is better to watch now than it was before VAR? Even during the Pedro Mendez incident I can't recall feeling this level of disgust at the state of the game.

I keep watching out of loyalty to Spurs at the moment but can't often bring myself to watch other matches anymore.
Totally.

At least in those days you could console yourself with the idea that maybe the ref hadn't seen it from his angle (if at all).

There's no excuse now. The refs have every conceivable bit of help they could want for, yet still get things wrong.

That naturally leads people to question their integrity.

The thing is that surely they can’t change it now until the end of the season as it would affect the integrity of the league. Would we be allowed to have two extra points for the bad decision!

A beautiful and simple game Is being ruined by the ruling authorities wanting to over complicate things. Football as we know has been destroyed and if they don’t act quickly the bubble will burst. I was at a lot of games last season (obviously prior to lock down) and the supporters of both teams were voicing their opinions against the mediocrity of VAR and rules. Let referees ref a game. Stop fucking with a winning formula

Wait until it happens to Liverpool on a CL match, then he’ll change his tune.

Maybe if we played Newcastle every week, and we didn't play well because if we did we would have won the game.
