I've been fairly critical of Jose so far but I think he's done OK today and the Liverpool game - fitting tactics to the opposition and the players we have available.

Some real positives to take from tonight however still would have liked us to create a goal rather than capitalise on their errors in order to score.

I thought we were going to win by 3 or 4 and probably should have after the confidence boosting start we had.

Lots of positives, Tanganga, GLC, Lamela for sure with lots of movement.

Concern was the spell in the 2nd half where we just kept passing it to a Middlesbrough player. Wasn't just one player but Winks, Dier and Eriksen all seemed to just play poor passes in our own half.

Atmosphere struggled to get going as well, probably understandable but a great turn out for a 3rd round replay on a very wet Tuesday night.

. .We played well first half, however, second half we seemed to go down a gear or two. Tanganga looks like he is going to have a bright future. |Will be a tough against the Saints away.

We really need to find a striker as I fear we are gonna struggle to score enough goals with what we have. When you add in the poor defence this is a recipe for disaster, in previous years when Kane has been out we have got by with the odd goal from Son, but now we need at least 2-3 a game to get a win. I would like to see us linked to Mitrovic, think he could be a great replacement for Kane.

What the Mitrovic that went off an stretcher at the weekend and has an ankle injury that according to Scott Parker yesterday, "doesn't look good"
Genius idea,
Could be a companion on treatment table for Kane I suppose.

Its a weird game, football.

Contrary to seemingly popular opinion, I thought we played pretty well overall. It was a tricky tie. Tanganga, Lo Celso and Lamela stand outs for me but Sessegnon also did well down the left. Winks was lively and passed forward in the way we know he can. I thought Eriksen was pretty good as well. I find it strange that fans seem to jump on the 1 negative they can find, despite multiple positives.

I enjoyed watching it. 2nd half was always going to be a gear down. 2-0 up with an important game at the weekend. Job done. Credit to all involved.

I'm glad that you said that - I thought that Sess performed pretty well yesterday but I thought that people would say "he wasn't very good". Someone on another forum suggested that he seems a bit risk adverse still but I thought that it was an encouraging performance.

Decent first half, poor second. Disappointing how even against lower opposition we couldn't control possession (Winks!).

Wanted to see RS attack the fullback, but once again he seemed happier to play the safe pass.

Jan continues to look very unhappy.

Continue to be surprised at just how careless we are with the ball.

Anyone know what the allocation and season ticket/loyalty point cut off was for the away fixture? Applied for Southampton away next week and wondering what my chances are of nabbing a ticket

For Boro away loyalty points needed was 120 on an allocation of 4,866 , Saints is a lot closer so loyalty point figure bound to be higher

Thanks for this. 91 points and not being a season ticket holder is nowhere near enough then lol
