Says a lot when your 20 year old rookie playing out of position is your best player.

Jose Mourinho needs to step the fuck up because what I'm seeing is absolute garbage.

I must admit he is not coming across as the tactical technician i thought he was. Maybe these players are incapable of carrying out technical plans??

Our club needs to be alert on the fitness situation in the squad. Look alone at our central midfielders. Tanguy cant hold together for 2 games, wanyama not even one and Dier looks like Ronald McDonald winning a day with the footballers.

Motm Japhet. Not perfect but so so promising. Unit, quick, good with his feet, agressive...i like what i see.

Would have liked to see Skipp...

I'm pretty sure we had ITK about how Mourinho was slightly baffled by how poorly coached we were technically and tactically when he arrived

That was sloppy all over the pitch.

Verts and winks were ok, though verts cannot play the ball out of defence. The rest of midfield/attack were sloppy as was davinson.

Gazzaniga was good, tanganga played well but needs more game time. Lucas looked sharp but could have passed to eriksen twice in the first half and the game would have been over.

Sess was far too cautious going forward.

Lamela looked good but faded, lo celso showed bits but was generally ineffective, eriksen got in some good spaces and was in fact dangerous but still played half assed.

Dier - ok but sloppy and like lamela faded.

We won, tanganga and gazza. No more positives from that game.

From that game you can see why so many are not starting games. Just not good enough in so many areas on the pitch.

Jose has a mountain to climb with this squad.

The "other players" can't last the fucking distance. Wasn't that made fucking abundantly clear tonight? Jesus...

I was annoyed that Mourinho kept playing him but now I understand. The bloke's the only fucking professional out there maintaining a proper fitness base.

It’s easy to last 90 mins when you don’t break a sweat. Lo Celso gets the ball, turns and runs at the opposition. Without the ball he’s snapping at the oppositions heels. Whereas Eriksen either lays it off or passes it straight to the opposition. Defensively he doesn’t even bother attempting to win the ball back. The quicker he leaves the better.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

There is definitely a hangover from the Poch era.

Yeah, bloody hell, Lo Celso was everywhere this evening. No wonder he was blown up with his exertions and lack of minutes. Massively encouraging performance.

Not his fault if the players are incapable or unwilling to follow instructions (as it would appear they didn't listen to Poch either, in the end). Once he gets rid of those culprits, I have absolutely no doubt that we are going to be a great team again. We just have some serious deadwood to shift.

We should have won that by about 6 really, that’s how much better we were than them, but we couldn’t put it to bed and made life hard for ourselves when they started banging it long.

Positives to be taken;
Tanganga. 2 senior starts and he looks this good? What a player.
Gazzaniga. Thought he had a very good game, though perhaps could have done better for their goal?
Seasegnon. Looked very assured in his role and got forward well on occasion.
Lo Celso. Appears to be growing into the role and was always looking to get us going forward quickly.
Lamela. I seriously hope the boy can put his injury woes behind him. He’s got the biggest heart in the club.
Team effort and desire. They were up for it today, pressing in packs, never really allowing borough to settle into any kind of rhythm.

Negatives.

Dier. I hate to say it but stick a fork in him, he’s done. The “he’s been out for a while through illness” excuse doesn’t wash anymore. He’s now had ample time to get back to fitness, and sufficient game time to get somewhere close to match sharpness, but he looks like the weakest link out there.
Eriksen. He was a mixed bag today, did some good stuff, did some bad stuff but, to his credit, he never hid and was always looking for the ball. But his set pieces were, once again, atrocious. He’s a shadow of the player we had and loved.
Sanchez. After a commanding game against Liverpool, he was the only player on the pitch who couldn’t judge a header. Had hearts in mouths on at least a couple of occasions with some awful headers.
Defensively. I’d hazard a guess that it wasn’t just me that was chewing his nails to the quick every time they got a corner or a free kick in our half. They don’t inspire confidence though, having said that, I have to acknowledge that they dealt with the majority of the dead ball deliveries pretty well in all honesty.

So overall, very pleased with the effort put in, they took this game very seriously, but worried about our profligacy in the final third, we really should have been out of sight before the hour mark, if not by half time. But with the effort comes the results, so here’s hoping that this is just another step towards building confidence which will see us improve further.

Oh and one other thing, no evidence of the “hoof ball” so many on here think is JM’s only avenue of attack, some of our build up play was intricate, fast and, but for some ordinarily final third play, should have resulted in some very easy on the eye goals.
