Thinking about that game another way. Do we even get a point out of that 3 months ago?

I very much doubt it.

I was dreading this game before the lockdown happened, we were playing awful stuff, no outlet up front, and the rest of the team was held together with blu tack. Reckon we’d have lost heavily three months ago.

I didn’t really know what kind of performance to expect last night though, I think if someone had offered me 1-1 before the game I’d have taken it though. We played pretty well, Dier and Sanchez were pretty solid for most of the game, and but for a really soft penalty, we’d have won it.

Yeah I agree. But that what makes your last sentence so frustrating. I’ve a feeling the performance will do it, but a win really would have galvanised this set of players.

Im a hell of a lot more confident than I was in March that’s for sure. But we will still need to score at least two goals a game to win because of our defence. Can we do that playing like we did in the second half though, that’s the question.

Sorry that’s a stonewall penalty. We’d be going nuts if that was Son the other end. He was done for speed of thought then he was always at a disadvantage once Pogba was passed him. Those are never not given
Progba tried to push Dier away and a lack of strength and balance meant he crumbled under his own counter weight (and a little bit of cheating or is it simulation these days) made it look convincing. Yes he was in front but Dier did not impede him. The ref wanted to give it as he did the second pen. There was no crowd pressure.
I dont know what bias looks like in football but last night in that sanitise environment the ref looked biased when he gave both pens. What did he see? he wasn't influenced in any way. we were robbed.

A win would have gone a long way to helping our chances, I still think it would have been a big ask to get top 4/5, and still do.

I get it with Kane, not being up to snuff, 6 months out etc, but I wonder has he his mind made up and he's off. Now, i love him as much as everyone else on SC, but fuck it, if we got a boat load of cash for him, and invested it wisely (not like the Bale windfall) would it be time. He is another ankle injury from being cracked. We can't be a one man team.
I think we may see one more year from him after that not sure.
I certainly would not begrudge him a move away, for a player of his quality and age he needs to start winning things, just staying in a bang average side will do nothing for him.

He’s alright but the praise is over the top. Should we have signed him instead of Ndombele though? Yes, is the obvious answer.

Definitely over the top praise and that's not to shit on his ability or anything. Played a first time cross into the box yesterday and the commentators acted like they've never seen that done before.

Fine that you think it's a penalty but stonewall? Really?

Not for mine.

If we'd of won last night I would have put us favourites to get 5th. Now I think we will finish 6th.

Completely correct.

The problem we have is we dont look like we will create/score many, but always look like we will let a few in.

Sort CM out and we might look like a half decent team again. Until then I have little hope for the rest of our games.

With the prospect of a raid through Poundland for our summer bargains, the thought of having CM position adequately filled or any other for that matter is unlikely.

I can’t remember when Kane played well for 6 games on the trot. I know he scores goals and can really pass the ball but he is so pedestrian. I wouldn’t mind if he was sold as long as the money was properly reinvested in the team. We played with 10 men last night against 14. The ref couldn’t wait to give the penalties.

That opinion wouldn't sit well with the locals on here, but it is something that would get Levy's juices flowing sell him for top dollar, with half going to Jose and the other half banked winner winner.

When I saw the line up I thought we would get battered. Feisty performance. I can take a lot of positives from that. COYS.

We can take a lot of positives from that. I got a good chuckle out of Lamela's hair, for instance.

However, the second half tactics were indefensible.

but for a really soft penalty, we’d have won it.

I said before the game Mourinho's tactics at Spurs seem to rest on the assumption "soft penalties" and other individual errors won't happen.

Not an excuse he can use.

Each to their own. Given our form beforehand and theirs I was expecting a spanking. We kept it pretty tight for most of the game. The football we play now is certainly not the type I want us to play but that’s the manager we have now. Not gonna change my team after 4 decades because I don’t like the manager. He’ll be off soon and people will have something else to moan about. (This rant is not aimed at anyone in particular, you were just there when it happened)

I'm sure we'd replace Kane with absolutely no problem. Our crack scouting team would unearth a young, line leading, 25 goal a season man who no one else has spotted who's going for half the going rate of all other comparable strikers, and Levy would execute the deal swiftly and discretely. Definitely.
