Remember those games under Poch in 14/15 where it was clear that given some time and a player or two we were going to be quality? This was that, Jose edition

Think it was the Everton game where for me you could first really see poch’s style of play being put into action. Something clicked that day and we didn’t look back from there!

The twists and turns of sport. Lets be honest City weren't cutting through us at will, but they did have numerous chances and we largely survived on quite a lot of luck. But we hung in there and when the momentum and atmosphere shifted with that red card we struck whilst they were vulnerable and reorganising. Great goal out of very little from Bergwijn and we took full advantage of the wind being in our sails with the second shortly after that put us in the driving seat.

As I say, yes it was lucky but if you somehow manage to stay in games eventually you will get your spell and it's whether you can take advantage of it. Against Liverpool we didn't quite manage it, today we very much did.

Exactly. That’s why I was so annoyed by the Liverpool defeat. Posters were saying they pumped us in the first half. Well a football match lasts 90 minutes. Doesn’t matter when you score the goals as long as you score the most.

Somehow amongst all of that, one of my fave bits was seeing Hugo go absolutely mental at Sterling after the penalty save and resulting altercation. He was proper fired up and squaring up to Sterling - don’t think I’ve ever seen Hugo like that. Got a right buzz out of that and Toby lifting the single tier stand

You know, this is what I really wish our managers/coaches all along can be. Stand up for the team, no hiding to be the Mr Good guy, show the emotion, and sometimes a proper shithouse. Being nice is just being soft. I really hope the player can see these videos while browsing through their social media and build the same mentality as their gaffer.

To be honest I know this will sound silly but I think City are by far and away the best team in the league. Even with 10 men we couldn’t get near them. Just like at the Ethihad how they didn’t score 4 or 5 only they will know. Liverpool are the complete opposite, they seem to score with every half chance they create but don’t dominate teams.
Both Liverpool's season and today's result prove that goals are the only stat that matters though: they trump posession stats all day, every day. (With apologies to @Bus-Conductor's departed soul.)

In the two games vs spurs this season:

City - 51 shots, 2 goals.
Spurs - 6 shots, 4 goals.

Shove that up your blue moon.

I absolutely loved that. That is what a captain means to me. He always got my criticism for being so soft during Poch's reign. I think Mourinho got him hardened up. His mentality now is so top, which is just astonishing so soon after he came back from that nasty injury.

Also people will point out the possession stats and the shots on target and all that rubbish. How many meaningful saves did Lloris make? Yes we rode our luck at points. And we made mistakes. Yes they had two 'sitters' (though they were far from the easy chances they were portrayed, they were in a good position but the reality is both chances required very special technique) but that is always the case against city. The reality is we defended well, wound them up and took our chances. Typical Mourinho, but it was no accident.

:LOL: Football's fucking stupid, how did we win that 2-0. Love it!

Gotta mention Winks - thought he had his best game of the season. Hugo - huge (probably game winning) penalty save. And Tanganga - playing LB, with a debutant in front of him, against City, did about as well as he could.

Amazing result..............COYS!!

I might be stretching it a bit here, but for the sheer hard work, tenacity, tactics, togetherness and clinical manner of our finishing, we deserved that win. You may say we got a bit of luck, but if a defender sticks in a last second challenge, or clears it off the line, we commend him. Lloris is a defender and he’s saved the penalty, not luck in my book. He’s also made the save that forced Aguero’s shot onto the post, top goalkeeping.

We stayed solid, denied them time and space and waited on our chances, which were taken superbly.

Massive win and a quality performance from a fairly disjointed team lacking in certain areas. You can see more and more that this team is buying into JM’s coaching and management, the belief is coming back.

Massively pleased with this game.

Thought Tanganga's defensive work was immense.

They clearly were trying to test him and had a very difficult time getting the better of him. Would have been far better off pressuring Aurier more.
