Never seen the first half or seen the highlights, just caught the second half.

It's Poro that's fucked us there, if he was further back

Porro needed to be back to cover the player wide at RB that way it would let Bentancur push up to stop the run and block off any easy pass to the center and then out wide.
Problem is, is that Porro is following orders tactically, this happens far too often for it not to be. If that's him just wondering time and time again then he'd be dropped and told to cut it out.

I didnt watch the game but in the highlights, there are 3 occasions where Haaland just runs into the box as if hes been given the freedom of the town. Im no tactician so could someone in the know enlighten me on whether thats due to zonal defending ie defenders are supposed to pick him up when he gets into the box from midfield or a man-to-man that doesnt look to be working as it should?
It’s just modern day shit defending. Modern defenders are like characters from a Tolkien tale. They believe if they stay in their magical square yard of turf the opposition can’t score. Unfortunately the opponents Orcs and Trolls just move to another square yard of space where no one will bother them and score easy goals.
Seriously it’s a lack of leadership. One defender (CB) has to be in charge of organizing the defense. It’s his job to make sure everyone is doing their job and picking up any opponents in or around the box. That’s Van Dyke’s biggest asset.

It’s down to Ange being naive and shit at all tactics. Simple as that.

Or at least that is what I’ve continued to read for months now from those who know more about these things than me.

Hence why so many are stoked to see him fired.

oh and some schmo at the Athletic also wrote a lengthy piece about how god awful Ange’s approach was. So, there ya go.

I know nothing about strategy and tactics at a practical function as I’ve never coached a team at any serious lever or been a paid analyst or pundit. But there are dozens of SC members who can adriotely point out why he keeps getting it wrong. Plus dozens in the media.

Hope is the next guy hand picked by Levy will know what they’re doing.
