The funniest thing is that we have buggar all hope of winning anyway. City are flying going for the title and we are playing pretty badly with our feet up

Everyone sucked in by the Sky narrative again

City currently have the advantage. So we give Arsenal a 90% chance of winning the league with a draw or win tonight.
So us winning gives Arsenal the advantage then like I said? My point is us winning does NOT win them the title outright, which it feels like some people are forgetting. We can win tonight and they still not win the league.

would anyone still want us to win tonight if they knew for a fact that doing so would mean arsenal win the league and we still don’t get fourth?

Crazy i’m seeing so many people on here wanting us to smash City tonight, not one Spurs fan in the real world i have spoken to is desperate to win tonight.

strange.

Because, no offence, but many fans on here have not grown up around the area and with the arch rivals fan base around them. Handing them the title tonight would be unbearable. It would be remembered for our lifetimes. Somehow getting top 4, would be forgotten about the week after

exactly. Its utter nonsense. Its fans, rightly being fans BUT trying to take the moral highground.

Not one gooner would want to win tonight if we were in their position.

The mentality of our fanbase is very curious at times.

I don’t really care much about banter, some of my best mates are gooners and some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet (though slightly annoying about football)

Every fibre of my being just wants Arsenal to always suffer and never experience any joy. That’s it. Fuck banter.

Of course they wouldn't, look at them when we played the CL final.

saying they would rather lose the Europa final if it meant us lose the CL.

that is football, all this other nonsense is high horse rubbish.

if you genuinely don't care what Arsenal do then that is up to you but the majority of the football universe is invested in rivalries and it is what makes the sport the best in the world.

For all of the discussion around us beating City and handing the initiative to Arse, we aren't going to win tonight are we?
No, City will win comfortably and all the talk will have been meaningless. We can talk about letting them win but if it's a 5-1 loss let's not kid ourselves. The better team should win simple as and we go into Sunday as the far better team with 5th place to secure.

Maybe we're very petty, but that's okay. I've supported Spurs since the mid 80's, in that time I've experienced an FA Cup win & a League Cup win, I've seen us lose more finals then we've won. Maybe because of that, I tend to take as much pleasure seeing others fail, and that's okay too. In my head, seeing Arsenal celebrate a league win in the first half of the season as though they'd won the league, come close enough to the title two seasons in a row, to finish the season empty handed is brilliant. I make no apologies in taking pleasure in the failure of rivals. That said, had it been Liverpool or Chelsea bottling it in the same way, I'd take just as much enjoyment.

I mean we literally can by getting more points than them in future seasons

Yeah but you don’t build a team which is going to win leagues with the attitude they should throw some matches. Especially not with a club like Tottenham who has previous for not turning up when it counts.

So it’s fine if people want us to lose tonight. But don’t complain about mentality and lack of winning culture then. Because true winners want to win every match.

I'd feel completely different about this game if two games guaranteed us Champions League football.

quite simply we could win both games, not qualify for 4th and hand Arsenal the title... which is a scenario that CANNOT happen.
We could also lose and City lose Sunday

only disaster is a draw. give ourselves a chance at champs league or stop arsenal winning the league by losing either result is fine. It will be nice to watch still hoping we win but not really caring if we lose.

A draw is the most painful outcome, so I'd probably make that my prediction for tonight.

Because it's a different opinion than yours? You can see there are a good number in here that hold a different view on this to yourself. Are we all just trying to take the moral high ground or do we actually hold this "controversial" view that we want to win every game we play?

Its a completely different prospect if we really had something to play for

We don't. Villa are not going to lose on Sunday

Although I can certainly see us winning tonight, Villa losing on Sunday and us completely shitting the bed against Sheffield United.
