Or we could win both games, qualify for 4th and Arsenal blow the league on Sunday. Nothing tonight 100% gives the title either way, it just gives one an advantage heading into Sunday.
yeah, I just wish it was in our hands

Lads, how about turning up at home v the scum instead of being 3-0 down in 60mins

Obviously I won’t by cheering Man City on but do I want Tottenham to win tonight - No

We can't go back and change that though. We should also have turned up in a lot more games, not just the arsenal one and have 4th secured and this game wouldn't even be an issue again.

I swear nobody on here actually watches Spurs or PL football. We’re going to lose the match anyway going on current form. We might give them a scare or two but we’re not winning the match anyway. It’s all a moot point. Calm down.
Hehe not once, but twice in the last three seasons have we lost 4 out of 5 games with the one were we avoided defeat was Man City. I mean it happened this season with Emerson and Davies as CBs and Gil starting.

So yeah, City are large favourites to win, but a Spurs win or draw is not far-fetched.

We've won our last 4 PL home games against City without conceding a goal.

We are a bit of a bogey team for them at the moment.

Qualifying for the champions league is nowhere near enough reward for the decades of banter we will receive if we hand arsenal the title. I lived with an arsenal fan when they won it at whl and I’m scarred for life. I cannot understand anyone that wants us to hand them the title.

Ange doesn’t understand it.

He can’t compare it to Celtic/rangers. Both those clubs have won lots in recent memory. We have sat here and watched those mutha f ah kers mop up trophies whilst we have just raised ticket prices. I have listened to years and years of taunts from them about their trophy hall and our lack of one.

I can only assume if you want us to win tonight, you aren’t surrounded by gooners.

Also, if they fail to win it again this year, after everything they’ve put into it this season, it will HURT them. They will have to recover next season. Who says they will?

Nothing will change my mind. The champions league is just a media hyped money train for companies like Enic, it counts for nothing against CENTURIES of rivalry.

Blue moon.

Agree with a lot of your post but not sure about this part. This Man C side are arguably the greatest team in Premier League history. Arsenal finishing second this year is no big deal when you think we can still finish fourth. But beating Man C to the title is a big deal.

It's true they are much better than arsenal but compared to recent years or their rivalry with Liverpool, they are surely not as threatening.

Compared to previous years they seem much more likely to drop points, they seem to have prioritised the CL having won the league so much and Guardiola seems like he's coming to the end of his time.

In relative terms, i'd much rather go up against them now than previously.

I get that, but I can see Villa losing at Palace. They got back to 3-3 last night, but I think they have lost steam and Palace are flying especially with it at Selhurst.

This situation is far from ideal and there is no right or wrong answer to this dilemma. We’ve all grown up wanting Spurs to win games if we’re fans and if we don’t win the next best option is to draw games rather than lose them. Losing them badly is even worse than losing narrowly.

By a twist of fate this result could seal a fate of our nearest rival and a positive outcome for us would virtually hand them the title. We’ve been here before in 1999 and in 1971 and 2004 they won it at our place.

Just for once it would be great and nice for a change for them f*ckers to have that awful dilemma. The fact we’ve never had that the other way round is in part our fault because I’ve never been alive in a period where we’re literally this close to the title. On the very few occasions in the mid 80s or in the Poch era we’ve finished in 2nd or third it’s been long gone by the last game or even the penultimate one.

It’s a cruel twist of fate that it has happened in part but not in whole, because some of this awful dilemma is of our own making. Had we dumped Man City out of the cup rather than them dumping us out this fixture could have possibly been rescheduled earlier in the season, had we beaten those f*ckers down the road or even grabbed a draw we wouldn’t be where we are now, that part is sadly and truly on us. We’ve had two chances to avoid this awful dilemma and we’ve f*cked them both up, so we are where we are and we have to bloody well deal with it.

Part of me is glad at least that the wait will be over sooner rather than later because it could have been even worse and it could have gone down to the last fixture. It hasn’t thankfully it’s a Tuesday and there isn’t this long wait till the weekend.

Looking on the positive of funny side. Those f*ckers fate for a 20 year wait to the promised land rests in Spurs and the Spamners hands, if I were a fan needing to rely on Spurs and the Spammers pulling their fat from the fire against a bang on inform world class team I be thinking f*ck we’re doomed and that’s probably how they’re thinking right now. Do I feel sorry for them for having us and the Spammers as their get out of jail card - do I f*ck 😉. Equally do they feel sorry for us being in this awful dilemma equally they don give a f*ck about our pain either…..

Can we please stop with this narrative? Some of us just don't care about the "banter". I said previously either in this thread or elsewhere that I had a hard time in school with Gooners. But I grew up and realised that what they said doesn't matter. Some of us want Spurs to win, because we always want our team to win regardless of any permutations for others and us winning helps the mentality in the team. I have a Gooner manager who says things, it's water off a duck's back to me. I smile and laugh it off.

If we're ever in a situation where Arsenal are thanking us... we're doing it wrong.

I always want Spurs to win regardless of what that means to other teams, including Arsenal. However, City are much better than us and will in all likelihood beat us convincingly tonight even if we try our hardest to win so i find the whole argument a bit of a mute point. Its not like we are playing a lower or mid table team and need to lose to stop our rivals, we actually have little influence on the outcome in my mind as city have been rolling over teams for the past couple of months now.

For me once a club wants to lose matches even when there is something like a Champions League place at stake, that just sets a bad precedent.

We often talk about changing the mentality of the club, but if we’re not bothered about finishing as high in the league as possible, and we’re more worried about what Arsenal are doing, then I don’t see that mentality changing anytime soon.

I don't think it weird that some fans of a club would want to lose a match to inflict a big loss on their rivals. I'm sure fans of most clubs would be the same.

But Insofar as the club goes, I can't imagine anyone actually related to the organisation would want to lose a match - not least because they probably don't care if arsenal win the league. Is this what people actually think? Because the players and coaches are actively harming their careers and wallets by doing that, it's not happening.

it will be a nightmare going into work with arsenal fans thanking us and everybody else laughing.

If Arsenal ever have to thank us... we're doing it wrong.
If they have to thank us just respond with "You couldn't do it on your own then and had to rely on little old irrelevant Tottenham to get over the line?"

We did turn up in the second half and came close to an all time great come-back. It was too little, too late but we did turn up.
Nah mate - easy to start playing when there’s zero pressure and no chance of winning

Turn up at 0-0

Absolutely no need to ‘stop this narrative’. You do you and I’ll do me. It’s your right to support your club in anyway you choose the same as it is my right. You do not ‘stop’ anyone’s supporting narrative.

just because I don’t understand or agree with you does not give you the right to ‘stop my narrative’

I hope you’re able to beat off the decades of taunts that could be coming mate, because I have found it tough in the 20 years they’ve been going on about their last league title at whl.

Maybe i’ll just shove that 2008 league cup down their throats. That’ll learn them.

I like this idea people have that if they want us to win it makes it more likely to happen. Just want your team to win and see what happens. It has no bearing on the game itself. Our emotions mean nothing so why not just support your team as always?
