Bigger picture is also the confidence this will give the players for next season when we play ‘the best’. We need desperately to build a winning mentality for every game and not just the ones supporters pick and choose. Totally get the anti arsenal perspective but spurs come first
Of course. If our number one target with no dog in the fight watches us tonight is he more or less likely to join if we show we can go toe to toe with City or if we get rolled over. Small margins and all that but every little helps when talking about details making the difference.

I’m not saying this at all. I’m saying if we lose to a team that’s won three games and conceded a record amount of goals then that’s a separate calamity.
And if we beat a team that's won the number of games City have it's another calamity, right?

As I say you can't pick and choose when to turn up in the Premier league. Anything can happen in the last game of the season, just like it can happen in any game throughout. If we finish 7th it won't be because we didn't beat Shef Utd, it's because that's where we deserved to fish after 38 games and one of those is tonight.

So if this time next season, we are neck and neck with City at the top and playing them at home near the end of the season, would you rather they come to us having lost all 5 league games at new WHL or remembering we rolled over so they could win the league. We are Spurs fans. Fucking act like it.

It’s a bit odd to me how “you’d rather lose than win” when what’s at stake is maybe a chance of getting fourth lol? I thought we used to clown on the “top four is everything” and “don’t care about glory”, but now we’re willing to help those bellends win the league to get some more revenue? I can’t keep up.

For me once a club wants to lose matches even when there is something like a Champions League place at stake, that just sets a bad precedent.

We often talk about changing the mentality of the club, but if we’re not bothered about finishing as high in the league as possible, and we’re more worried about what Arsenal are doing, then I don’t see that mentality changing anytime soon.

Again: we’d have to lose to one of the worst teams in PL history. If that happens, we fully deserve it lol.

And I fully reject the idea I don’t want Spurs to succeed.
And I never said you don't want Spurs to succeed, I said your priorities are different to mine. Don't twist things.

£50 on the draw.

I'd take a win as I genuinely think Villa will lose to Palace, or a defeat to stick it to those Gooner ****s. Draw would be an absolutely awful result.
That's exactly where Im at, i'll be cheering us to win first and foremost but wont shed any tears if we lose, wont be actively rooting against us though.

To dare is to do...... We need to win so go full ossie (or Aussie) style vicario, Romero and VDV at the back, everyone else up top! 😂.

We win and keep CL alive, or lose and city go top above arsenal.

For all of the discussion around us beating City and handing the initiative to Arse, were aren't going to win tonight are we?
This is where i'm at. Personally I want us to win and I wan't us to win next week because I want us to win every game and try and get CL. I know its unlikely but there is a chance as Palace are a hard team to play atm. But I think its in Spurs best interest to win every game we possibly can and finish as high as we possibly can regardless what the other teams do. Reality is Arsenal will likely be challange for the title for the next few season's. Really if they had bought a good striker last summer they might well have already wrapped it up. They will likely invest heavily again this summer and will be right up there next season. If they keep doing that year in year out it will only be a matter of time before Pep ether leaves or misses a step. Liverpool will be in rebuild mode, we still have a shit load of work to do and Chelsea/Newcastle/Villa/Utd etc are still way off also. I'd say there is a very very good chance that Arsenal win the league in the next two or three seasons. Its not as if this is their only shot at it, they were very close last year and are even closer this year. They are very much on the ascendancy and unfortunately are not going to go away any time soon.

That being said I can completely understand wanting us to lose tonight. Us essentially handing them the title is not an easy thing to stomach and obviously the banter will be relentless. I get it completely and if we do lose then im not going to particularly care. I'm also not going to criticise anyone for wanting City to win tonight. The fact is we aren't a CL team currently and 5th is probably where we deserve to be, that doesn't stop me from wanting 4th and trying until the last minute to get it but still. There are also so many variables, what if we win today then lose or draw against SU. What if Villa beat Palace, what if City or Arsenal lose their last game. The only thing we can control to some degree is tonights game and with that Arsenal winning the title.

All that being said I find the debate completely moot. Regardless If you want to win or loose City are just a much much better football team then us and are in title winning form. We are in mid table form and bar 45 mins against second bottom Burnley have been way off it for the majority of our recent games. We can argue about what is best for the club or the fans all we like but what one wants from tonight doesn't really matter IMO as I don't see any reality in which we win.

I think the best way to think of tonight is this:

We win - we're right in the race for 4th.
We draw - we guarantee 5th and europa.
We lose - screw Arsenal!

Whatever the result, we get something out of it.

Lads, how about turning up at home v the scum instead of being 3-0 down in 60mins

Obviously I won’t by cheering Man City on but do I want Tottenham to win tonight - No

I'd feel completely different about this game if two games guaranteed us Champions League football.

quite simply we could win both games, not qualify for 4th and hand Arsenal the title... which is a scenario that CANNOT happen.

We did turn up in the second half and came close to an all time great come-back. It was too little, too late but we did turn up.

Or we could win both games, qualify for 4th and Arsenal blow the league on Sunday. Nothing tonight 100% gives the title either way, it just gives one an advantage heading into Sunday.
