Everton at home isn’t exactly a tough game. If we win tonight they’re booking the parade

They should win that match but it’s not a given. According to Google there’s an 83% chance Arsenal beat Everton, compared to a 72% chance that Man C win tonight.

So despite all the angst and talk of throwing the match, Man C are overwhelming favourites to beat us tonight just like Arsenal are to beat Everton.

Once the game gets started this thread is going to get double tasty. The two factions will be ramping it up with every incident, especially every goal.

It'll be carnage.

I can't wait for this game to be over and done with so we can get the Farleys Rusks dished out and the SC milk monitor can get to work before nap time.

I’m going back and forth whether to even watch. I’m not going to cheer if City score, more of an approval to the greater good.

the thought of that slimy greasy lego headed fuck and his group of diving cheating limp wristed freaks winning it makes my skin crawl.

'costing' them the title (albeit it's done over the season) would live with both sets of fans for generations, it's something i'm completely on board with.

£50 on the draw.

I'd take a win as I genuinely think Villa will lose to Palace, or a defeat to stick it to those Gooner ****s. Draw would be an absolutely awful result.

Everton have lost once in 7 games, and 4 clean sheets in 5 games. It's not a push over.

Let them book the parade, if it effects you that much you should ignore all social media and everything that surrounds it. You can't control it so why let it bother you so much?

You're going to be pissed off if Spurs win this evening?

There's something especially grotesque about this arsenal team. Wenger's sides may have mastered gamesmanship and exploited the nature of the English game at that time but you had to respect players like Henry, Adams, Bergkamp etc.

This arsenal teams feels very middling despite having billions spent on it. They avoid scrutiny for their tactics, with teams barely adapting for them. They avoid being pressurised by the media, when they say it hardly feekd like a title race this year, that significantly helps them as they are less likely to cope with that pressue. Their best players are not poached or unsettled. The biggest teams have massively declined during their rise whilst no one has really ascended... villa and Newcastle maybe but if so, barely.

Their success Is as vile as watching some old Etonian lout mocking a homeless person for a tiktok video.

Succinctly put. Thanks.

If you cannot understand why a large portion of fans feel how i do then i can't help you.

I've seen people say that even if Villa had won yesterday they still want to win today, why?

load of high horse rubbish, football is about rivalries, everyone sees things differently, granted but honestly if i felt that little about my rivals i wouldn't bother following the sport.
Respect your opinion, mine is football is about winning.

The match threads are volatile enough without a number of the fanbase actively willing us to lose, so I'll be steering well clear.

Even though I could never get on board with it personally I get why some fans would rather we didn't get a result. I just want to win every time we walk out and I guess I'm pretty thick skinned in general, so when it comes to the banter side of things I just let it wash over my head without any drama.

It did shock me last night though with some in here cheering on Villa so that we had nothing to play for, and that is something I don't get at all. The fact they'd rather finish 7th behind Chelsea as well as Arsenal than get a result tonight did make me wonder why they are in it all other than for the tribalism. If we finish below Chelsea then expect to get it from both sides rather than just one.

I look at the "what other fans are saying about us" thread and read over and over about how we live rent free inside their heads. Well Arsenal certainly do exactly that with a good number of our fans, they'll deny it of course, but that is very clear after some of the comments of the last couple of days.

I think the thing that would piss me off the most is if the players finally turn it on tonight. That’s the fear. Why couldn’t they do it against Arsenal and actually ruin the title challenge directly. Why couldn’t they do it when it actually mattered against our rivals in the league. If they play like they’ve got a point to prove and we win it would leave a bitter taste after all the opportunities we’ve had in previous games to right the wrongs. Would make it seem like they never cared about us fans and never cared playing against Arsenal, Chelsea etc
Yep. People talking about wanting us to show mentality against City - well, we were on the same points as Villa with a game in hand just 5 games ago - in the driving seat for Top 4. The players then served up a load of utter shit performances against our biggest rivals, where even our meagre late rallies came when there was no pressure as we were 3 or 4 down already. We've had numerous chances to show resilience recently - all failed.

To turn up against City when there is now barely any pressure as Villa are so far in front, due to our abject performances, and at the same time hand our biggest rivals the title, I don't necessarily see that as particularly great evidence of a good club mentality.

But I'm not sure how much say in the matter the players will have either way if City turn it on.

I swear nobody on here actually watches Spurs or PL football. We’re going to lose the match anyway going on current form. We might give them a scare or two but we’re not winning the match anyway. It’s all a moot point. Calm down.

and it is ‘lose’ not ‘loose’ for christs sake.

Whilst I do not want us to help Arsenal out today and will be relieved if we don’t, I completely get that Ange and the players won’t be able to give anything less than 100% out there tonight. Their professional pride is at stake.

For all of the discussion around us beating City and handing the initiative to Arse, we aren't going to win tonight are we?
