So that is the european champions, club world champions and premiership champions elect?
What a boring boring team. Seriously did anyone think that we were watching a very special team here?
Nope. But they are a very special team. The sad thing is that had better decisions been made if could have been us.

What’s annoying me about Alli these days is the flapping and moaning at his teammates. He has not earned the right to do that.

Get the feeling that his presence in the dressing room and media profile has blurred his and Jose’s view of his performances/ability.

Eriksen, rose, jan as much as it hurts me, and aurier need to go. We need to move on. There is still the core of a very good team there.
Yep spot on, move these guys on let Jose build a team and I think he can win us something, squad is a mess but today was hugely encouraging with a ravaged squad against the best team in the world the game plan was absoloutley spot on and as others have said if we’d taken our chances we’d have got minimum a draw.

He's a great player at the end of the day and great players can have great moments even when they have a bad run of form.
Hes a very good player. Not great and certainly not elite level. He isnt good enough to play against the teams he thinks he can.

Thought Jose got the tactics right especially given the lack of options available.

Equal measure of satisfied and incredibly angry with that performance....

1. Big positives in Sanchez and Tanganga.
2. Another decent game from Alderweireld and Aurier (seems suited to a more advanced role).
3. Exciting potential from GLC. More please.
3. Biggest disappointments were Alli (did nothing except for constant moaning) and Winks (has the skill but completely lacking any courage and hides from taking any responsibility in midfield - also at fault for goal and let Wijnaldum walk past him time & again).
4. Pretty much as expected from Eriksen and Rose.

Very obvious that we need a goalkeeper, right back, left back, at least one central midfielder and a centre forward.

Levy has to take majority of responsibility for the state we're currently in. We need investment ASAP and do whatever it takes to get Eriksen, Rose & Vertonghen out of the club now.

Time for another beer.

To be fair, Robertson should have been sent off. Aubamayang literally got sent off for the exact same tackle after VAR review earlier today. it wasn't even a free kick in this match.

Infuriating to say the least.

Aubamayang’s was far worse. Lucky it didn’t break or dislocate his ankle. Robinson’s was a yellow for me.

I disagree, I think he's a great player when he's switched on but it's been done to death so I won't argue extensively about it here.

8 clearances, 1 goal line clearance, 1 block, 2 interceptions, 2 tackles, 3 ground duels won, 2 aerial duels won and an 80% pass completion playing in 2/3 different positions (rb and lb in back 4 and rcb in back 3) on his debut against the best team in the league. Pretty decent

thanks for that. It was impressive to watch but the stats make it clear how much of a contribution he made.

I honestly believe refs let the status of the player influence their calls, and an unknown Tanganga aint going to even get a foul. If he'd done that to Kyle Walker at City it may well have been different.

the difference with Eriksen who doesn't tackle and Lamela is astounding For me Eriksen should never play for us again .
Rose was awful and Tanganga was outstanding and must be a starter .
For once in a very long time I am looking up instead of down .
Remember we have only won one game I fourteen against them with Klopp in charge so for me this game was an improvement on previous performances against Liverpool and with the rub of the green we could have been sitting with three points and Jose with six days to prepare is now showing us what he can do .

Think we played really well in the second half. Jose got the tactics spot on, Liverpool are a steamroller and he made sure we were still in with a chance right at the end.

Really unlucky not to get something out of that.
We would've created much more and probably scored if Son and Lucas weren't knackered because of all the running they had to do in the first half. Son normally buries that, but he was just so tired.

Jose introduced Lamela and Lo Celso, who took control of the game, but we had no legs in the final third. Such a frustrating game, especially when their goal shouldn't have stood and Roberts should've got a red card.
WTF didnt he put Lamela and Lo Celso at half time at least!? They were the two best against Boro in the last game as well. Why the fuck Winks (useless) and Eriksen (uninterested)?! :banghead:
I think we did everything right tactics wise today. We sat back, invited the pressure and just let them run themselves tired and then poked for it with the addition of Lamela and Lo Celso. I'm sure people will fuck about with not starting them but I actually think that if we started with the team that ended the game on the pitch the scoreline would flatter Liverpool a whole lot more. We actually had Liverpool looking limp in offence which we should take out of this. Second half we were the better team in my oppinion and we should have won it, or at the very least snapped a point up from it. Liverpool lucky with refs as per usual, Robertson should definatly have been sent off in my oppinion on the base of the red card awarded to Aubameyang earlier today. Not happy, not really fuming as I was expecting us to lose but a tad bit frustrated as they were there for the taking. Let's see where this transfer window takes us but there are some promising signs. COYS
Great second half performance and a lot to be positive about.

I didn't want this game to start because I thought we would be getting a hiding, in the end I didn't want it to end. Only one team looked like scoring in the last 20 minutes, and I was gobsmacked to discover that it was us.

Tanganga really impressed, talk about throwing him in at the deep end, but he did himself real credit and certainly justified Jose's faith.

Lamela and Lucas showed some spirit too, hopefully that starts rubbing off on others.

Many want Lo Ceslo to play ahead of Eriksen for contract reasons and because the Dane is leaving, but based on the last couple of games he will soon be ahead of him on performances alone. Such a shame he managed to scuff his chance, bet he couldn't miss that more than once in hundred times.

If not for that and the fact the Son was just having one of those days in front of goal and we take at least a point from that game all day long. Still lots of problems out there, but I am actually proud of most of our boys for the first time in quite some time...

Precisely!
After a while you could see what we were trying to do!
We restricted their attack to 2 or 3 clear cut chances, from which they scored one.
And last 25 mins, there looked like only one team in it, and all the liverpool fans around me + the liverpool bench all looked worried.
AND we even dealt with their counter attacks well in the last 25 mins as we had pace at the back and set up very well tactically.

Only Sonny and Lucas being knackered and unlucky GLC stopped us from being even more effective and take either a point or all three.

If Kane had been fit, one of lucas or sonny would definitely have come on too in the last 25 mins to replace one of kane or dele.

Haven't been so positive since Mourinho was appointed / the burnley game!

Despite the loss, I somehow feel like it was a win. Probably because I had expected a thrashing today and also for the fine performances from the majority of our players including our debutant.

Tells you how far we've regressed. Being proud of losing at home. I can understand not being furious, but proud. Sorry, but that's something a Norwich fan could feel
I honestly thought we were in for a tumping, so looking at the game overall, yeah I'm proud because we could have actually won it.
With our form and injuries, I really didn't expect us to compete in this game at all.
If you can't be proud of the spirit we showed and the performances of some of our players, then I feel for you.

Levy always over pricing players so we cant get rid of who we should be letting go. Eriksen, Wanyama, Rose, Vertonghen, Lamela, Walker Peters should have all have been sold and replacements come in.

When it comes to selling our players teams just don’t want the hassle of dealing with Levy and been drawn into along convoluted period of trying to negotiate a fee for that player when they can go and do deal for there plan b else where in a much more easier way...I honestly think that is why we see, to struggle players on more than other club.

It was a baffling game. Tactically we were on point, we had the better chances, controlled the game in the last 20 minutes, dominated in the first 20-25 and still lost.
One thing is for certain - Lamela and Lo Celso MUST start from now on. Eriksen and Winks cost us the game. We soaked up what they threw at us (barring one fluke) but the back had no outlet to link up with the front two.

And the misses - how do you have so many clearcut chances and still lose?

Said it in the ITK thread, not that I don't rate Foyth but Tanganga is the better prospect and he's more suited to the Premier League.

To be fair, i think it was tactical instructions for #3.

After the subs, both winks and dele looked so much better.

And we definitely dominated the midfield.
