Good start to the campaign-. Results in PL at home aside, overall looking good.
For me, we need to ingrain...Positiveness, confidence and balls which are needed to succeed.
The players are good enough, the coach is seasoned, the club is hungry for success and the support is there- we just need to turn that invisible corner?
The support isn't there though ;)

Pleasant when theres nothing contentious, yes.
If we got knocked out for a 3ft offside goal or a ridiculous penalty I'm not sure you'd be describing it as pleasent (the penalties at present from VAR aren't due to VAR but the idiotic law change. Most VAR other VAR issues are down to the piss poor implementation of it rather than the concept but wrong thread for this debate).
Did I just defend VAR? I've sick in my mouth.
You're bang on though.

VAR is a tool, it's the use of that tool which is piss poor.

This five sub rule will really benefit us in the EL this season. Is it going to carry all the way through to the final?
A law designed to benefit the bigger clubs with bigger squads.

'Fked up your team selection due to poor management decision? Don't worry. With the new 19 subs and 10 substitutions law you'll can turn that frown upside down easily within 90mins.
Use UEFA multi sub law for all your game changing needs.'
Works best with American accent ;)

So in a game where he passed forward and played well moved the ball quickly your finding another way to single him out sounds like hating to me. Winks is not Ndombele or Lo Celso but he is English, He is Spurs through and through and he has a lot of potential as well as having played in some truly memorable wins for spurs and England not many players in world football can say they have won away against Spain or against the repeat European champions and seriously at that time bossed the midfield. I think he is lacking confidence because he had to carry a midfield and try and be something he isn't for 2-3 seasons and all I am sure he will have heard about on social media is the fan base he is a part of his whole life bashing him at every given opportunity get off his back and support him he's a spurs player and a spurs fan show him some love and i'm sure he will come good as part of the squad now he is under less pressure.
I hope that too. My gut feeling is that that, at best, he's peaked. And that peak isn't good enough for the level this club is aspiring to.

Nothing to do with hating.

First clean sheet of the season isn't it?

The one common denominator - Joe Hart :sneaky:
All jokes aside, I thought Hart was excellent last night. We know he has had a rough patch, but I;d have him in goal over Pickford every day of the week.

Yep. There was absolutely nothing wrong with his performance last night except he gave away a couple of early free kicks. Apart from that he was fine.

I hate that I'm going to dig out one of our players off the back of a 3-0 win, but im afraid I'm going to have to.

Last nights game should have been an opportunity for Harry Winks to show why he thinks he could still be a valuable member of this squad.

For me, he didnt.

Instead of showing that he can (along side Hoijberg) control the midfeild against an inferior team, he spent most of the first half hacking down opposition players around our penalty box and giving needless free kicks away.
It feels to me like over trying, in the same way Joe Hart previously did for City and England (Joe seems to have calmed with age and since he's been with us, by the way).

The other comparison id make, is that Winks reminds me a bit of Walcot at the same age.
Both clearly have talent to get to the level they have, but they haven't had that 'penny drop' moment (maybe never will), that they have all the physical attributes to improve, but not the footballing brain.

This is not me hating on Winks. I just think he's out of his depth and hasn't improved as we would have liked. If anything , pro rata, he's worse than he was a few years ago.

Winks committed three fouls (Lamela also committed three fouls), the most of any Spurs player. I thought he had a decent game overall, but the fouls he commits are often stupid and usually because of his poor positioning. He has a habit of unnecessarily crashing into the back of opposing players and no referee will let him get away with that. He is fine as a squad player, though.

one thing for sure, its nice to have a keeper who can distribute the ball well. I love Lloris but watching Hart Id forgotten how that part of Lloris' game is lacking.

Lloris has improved, but he's never going to be Paul Robinson in that regard. There is a technique that Robinson and Hart share, which is that they can deliver a line-drive kick-out with the kicking leg outstretched sideways. That was how Robinson used to find Berbatov's Velcro chest with unerring accuracy and it's what Hart did several times yesterday. Lloris booms the ball skywards, like most goalkeepers, which is not only less accurate, but also gives defenders more time to mark the recipient and intercept.

Good overall performance last night, but I do have a bit of an issue with Lamela (whose shithousery is usually a favorite thing of mine). He seemed to be playing completely out of control a lot of the time. It looked like he was trying WAY too hard to play a bit of 'hero ball' and was all over the place.

He was like an over-caffeinated Jack Russell Terrier at times.

I think Hart looks better under Jose, same as Lloris. Asking them to pass it out when they're under pressure and do stuff they obviously arent very good at just ends in tears. They're both very good shot stoppers.
Look how long its been since Lloris made a major fk up. He was throwing it and kicking it off the pitch about 3 times a match under Poch plus getting us in all sorts of trouble. Glad to see that fannying around at the back when boxed in has gone. We still play out from the back but mix it up and clear when needed. As it should be.

He holds onto the ball too long and either loses it or gives the ball away.

Wondering when Jose will realise that Winks isn’t good enough - probably next summer’s transfer window

[SARCASM] Must be our amazing coaching during Joe's two months with us. (Or maybe just a reeeeaaaly small sample size. [/SARCASM]

I like the signing of Joe by the way, before anyone starts to get all twisted.

Or passes it to Bale to set up our 2nd goal.

He does as much right as he does wrong, pretty much like all our other players.
I'm a Lamela fan, but holding onto the ball too long is his great besetting sin as an attacking footballer. He's done it since he arrived, he does it in every game, he does it more often than not and it appears to be an ineradicable flaw in his game.

I reckon he would have double the number of assists if he would just pass the bloody thing a second quicker.
