The kids looked very comfortable - Cirkin is a stand out, reminds me of Ben Davies but think he’s got a much higher ceiling.

He did ok and just a friendly but aside from the goal he wasn’t as involved as much as you’d want from that position but he scored a great goal so disappointed is a little harsh.

He wasn't involved at all really bar the goal, which was probably a little lucky after an awful first touch and a pea roller of a shot

Don't think he'll amount to much more than a squad player this season, but he's a very decent option for the EL. I can imagine we'll play him at RWB in that competition.
Probably be a squad player but the new RB signing will have to be Matt Doherty or better to do better than he did today, was absolutely class

OK and interesting match. Very good first half then typical friendly stuff in the second.

As always preseason is the absolutely worst way to judge players abilities and how the team looks. There is basically 0 correlation between how many wins you get in preseason vs in the real season as it is all about building fitness, maybe experimenting a bit and all that. But all in all, no injuries some players looked quite sharp and not worried at all.

I know it’s just a pre season friendly but it feels like Jose it really slowly building something and hope we can get him at least the RB and ST ASAP and mabye even a CB and AM and we’ll be flying soon enough.

White's distribution is solid.

What I learnt from today :

Cirkin
looks quality for only 17. Pace, good on the ball and made some aggressive challenges. Needs to be tried at LB

Sessegnon
Didn't show much apart from the goal. Still can't work out where he should play, gets in the box well but that's it

Hojbjerg
Has much better passing than Southampton fans say, some good tackles, looks good. Upgrade on Winks, particularly defensively

Clarke
A bit raw still

Fernandes
Good performance but not tested enough defensively

Really hope no Ipswich fans paid to watch this. Can only imagine how demoralising this has been for them - 3-0 isn’t a terrible score line for them but even with hardly any senior players on the pitch there is a massive gulf between the two teams.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Ipswich enquire about loaning a couple of these young lads - they look like they would improve them.
tbf there are some mitigating factors. Namely, league 1 teams haven't played any football since march and they've not even been in preseason for that much longer than us.

The youth teams, meanwhile have been back in training much longer.

So I don't think they'd be worried, its 5 months ago since Ipswich played some competitive football, they are going to be flat!
