There’s still too many players especially with our rotated squad who are not comfortable enough on the ball for how Postecoglou wants to play.
And thats when 'this is the way we play' gets me frustrated. Its just my opinion in agreement with Hoddle who said 'its risk against reward' (and I cant remember exactly how he worded it but something like)- and when the risks arent getting any rewards you might want to consider changing the way you do things. The risks were perpetually putting us in danger, not just now and again but constantly and I cant understand how you are 'managing' that by just letting it happen over and over.
He commented how its not about completely changing your philosophy, just choosing when to stick to it which may be later in the game when the opponent tires.

I’d argue that accepting this defeat and that Gala are a difficult team etc is the opposite tough. It’s typical roll over and have your tummy tickled Spurs.
Who accepted the defeat? The point was clearly made that it was a dissapointing effort.

However, there is a difference between being dissapointed in a result and a performance, which I am and some of the over emotive petulance I've seen in the thread.

Shame about the injuries we had for today. Werner especially would have had a field day against them imo. Odobert off the bench would have given them fits also.

God some of our fan base lack resilience.

Ipswich the more important game as things stand so playing the kids a necessity. Gala are not some chump team, we were always going to be up against it and yeah, we got done.

Dissapointing performance but we move on to the weekend.

This result has no bearing on our ability to beat Ipswich nor our ability to win the Europa.

Toughen up.
Agree wholeheartedly.

Ref was horrible tonight. Atmosphere was white hot and we'll benefit from the experience.

Yet again the poorest performance was in the match thread. The level of petulance never ceases to amaze me.

I know everyone can be whatever type of "fan" they want to be but I have very little common ground with some of ye.

Sometimes I wonder if we watch the same team or support the same club.

I'm generation X, more than many on here, we have more reasons to feel despondent as we have witnessed glory in Europe and domestically and have seen the contrast in decline! I guess we're made of sterner stuff 😄

Yep, you can't win them all so all things considered I'd choose this as the one to lose.

Just realised a bunch of other results went our way tonight so mitigating some of the pain anyone might be feeling.

We'll come out on top when we meet them in the final.
What makes you think that they could have won 7-2 tonight at times it was embarrassing. As bad as I have seen in a while .

I knoww we have our 2 central defenders out and maybe Kulu and solanke could have made a difference but they are a very good side and made a lot of our players look pretty average to say the least

Which ones? Just looked at the live table and we're in 7th or 8th I think which is a bit of a bitter pill. I naively assumed we'd only drop a few places.

We've got another gear or three left in us, so I'm not too concerned. Anywhere in the top 8 come the end of the league phase and I'll be happy.

Not a single team worries me in this tournament. Just need to qualify and then start to play our best side in the knockouts. It’ll be us rather than the opposition that’ll determine how far we progress.

I'm not at all convinced we will advance that far in this competition. We're too up and down and there are some very capable sides in this tournament quite capable of putting us out when we're on a down turn. If we were to win it would be up there with one of the greatest achievements in the club's history.

Lyon, Bodo glimt, Olympiakos and Midtjylland.
All four could have gone above us with the right result.
Technically Rangers too but they drew with Olympiakos so an either or with that one.

Look at it this way.

Most of those teams are only a point above us.

Lazio got a late winner to go 3 above but we are still very much in a strong position and I reckon 4 pts in our next 2 keeps us in a really strong position to still finish top.

But finish top 8, and I don't care
