I'm home from the game and still think we didn't deserve that defeat. I don't know if we were using tonight as a training game trying out different tactics but we must have put in more crosses tonight than we have all season. Can't help wondering if Bodo or Bilbao look vulnerable to crosses.
I won't brook any argument with the fact that we played well tonight and we were the better side, Forest were defending for their lives by the end and it wasn't a comfortable defensive display like ours at Frankfurt, it was verging on panic on occasions.
Disappointed by the result but not the performance.

Edit: It ain't fucking funny @yojambo

Nothing wrong with that especially for Forest. Not many saying that when Nuno was setting us up to play the same.
Because the comparison is pointless. Nuno wasn't the right fit for us.

You're comparing us who, at the time were looking at top 4, to Forrest, who were newly promoted. I get the Irony of our current situations, but Nuno has made a fairly cheap and small squad extremely efficient and they deserve to be where they are right now, but that's not how any of us fans wanted us to play at the time, we all wanted and Ange type of football.

Hindsight and all that but let's not start rewriting history and pretending we were loving life undo Nuno.

Absolutely key.
Wrap up Kulu and vdV
Bentancur also. I know he has his some poor views on here, but I think he is our best midfielder at turning into space at the DCM position.
The rest are all much of a muchness right now and so many I’d happily sell as soon as the window opens.
Kulu needs minutes, he looked lost at times and little came off for him.

The one goal defeat is back on boys! Get in
If we drawn just over half of those games we would have been in mid table which while still not great would have left an improved feeling around the place which may have inspired more victories. Grasping at straws I know but our inability to get at least something from games is part of the reason for our downward spiral.

Bigger picture - I’d rather have forest qualify for CL than help chessie qualify at their expense.
Villa’s the one we want to miss out. If they get back into the CL next season they will invest and improve. If they don’t get CL given their overextended financials they will have to trim their squad which will hamper their progress..

Think richy missed at least 2 big chances, the header at the far post 3 yards out in the first half and a 1 v 1 with the keeper in the second, so there were enough chances to at least get something out of the game. We just didn’t take it.
The header he should have left for Sarr behind him who would have scored. He also got in the way of a Sarr shot. Trying too hard meaning he’s not aware of whatyaround him.

I think the other big difference is that he clearly wasn't respected by the players. Remember when Kane refused to come back from his holiday to training? Our squad wasn't exactly Real Madrid but many of them had been playing in the Champions League final and under Jose Mourinho a couple of years earlier, now this nobody was coming in and trying to throw his weight around and it clearly didn't land as he wasn't a good communicator even though he'd proven at Wolves he was a decent coach. The best coaching ideas in the world are only as good as the willingness of the players to listen and carry them out.

With Forest he's picked up a super talented squad at the right moment of their upward curve. Elanga and Hudson-Odoi with points to prove, Gibbs-White stepping up, Chris Wood has never been a big name player but has always been an effective one in the right system, Murillo another talented young player trying to make his name in Europe then some really astute transfer business to get in Milenkovic in to partner him and Elliot Anderson (who was quality last night) and suddenly you've got this hungry young squad who work hard and actually have a bit about them.

They won the game in the first 20 mins. They were a shoulder too far from being 3 up and then took their foot of the gas and treated it like a training session. I imagine they're sitting in the changing room and thinking what an easy day out that's been. Done the double over us comfortably.
Absolute truth getting two dislikes and a disagree.

To me watching from the South stand this is what happened. We were coming at them without them doing anything except hold their ground knowing we'd lose the ball eventually with a misplaced pass. They would then run right through us until their attack fizzled out. It was embarrassing. We had our two fullbacks and our wingers all playing wide chucking in crosses where they could - even though the fullbacks are supposed to be inverted and filling midfield, and both of the wingers want to play inside forward. Wrong personnel for the system leaving big gaps and isolated players all over the place. The eye test for me and those about me was that we looked poorly organised and clueless yet again. According to Postecoglou we were watching a different match to him! He thought we were excellent.
Ange out even with the EL trophy. I can't watch 19 home PL matches like that again and shell out £1200 for the privilege.

Really? Desperate clearances off the line and fingertip saves at full stretch was all part of their training session was it?

Of course, but he fell short while managing our club. Like any other coach since Poch.
He was literally given a stop-gap contract and clearly needed some rest, it was only going to end up one way. His attempt at Dele playing as box-to-box midfielder was... interesting I guess. Conte overachieved in his first season.
