The funniest timeline is Spurs finishing 15th in the league and then winning this to get into the CL next season.

Not as funny as Spurs getting relegated and winning this to be the first ever Championship side playing in the Champion's League next season.

Didn't realise this. I do now!!! He is in hallowed company.

From the Beeb.

"At 17 years and 172 days old, London-born Moore became the youngest English player to score in major men's European competition, breaking Jimmy Greaves' record (17 years 245 days), set in October 1957."

How many of these injuries have occurred on our own pitch?

I wonder if there are any concerns about the retractable pitch and how thin it is underfoot 🤷‍♂️
That is a very good question. We had a similar problem in Australia many years back when Docklands Stadium first opened for the 2000 AFL season. It has a car park underneath which meant the playing surface above initially was a lot firmer. There was a spate of injuries in the early years with many players saying they were more fatigued and took longer to recover after playing a game there. A subsequent 2007 University of Melbourne study indicated that hard surfaces, such as the surface at the Docklands Stadium increase the likelihood of player injury, in particular anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

As with any study though, I'm sure there are others with contrasting findings.

Has it ever happened before three players scoring their first goal for a club's first team in the same game?
In terms of 3 academy products, probably not. In broader terms I remember Dean Marney, Reto Ziegler and Pedro Mendes all scoring their first goals for Spurs (and in English football) in the same game (v Everton 2005).

Don’t think any of them ever scored for us again.

Not even being hyperbolic when I say that’s one of my favourite Spurs results of all time
Yep, 100%. To see three academy lads score at those ages, one of them on debut after about 4 mins. Absolutely wonderful.

Was at that Everton game. Thought Marney was the next best thing. 😂

Out with the flu, the wife has provided me with a slab of bacon, eggs and pancakes. I’ll now go start the day by watching that second half again!

Does anyone have an extended clip of Ajayi's goal? Recall the bench and the injured players got really into it. Would love to watch that again

Reflections in the game. 1st up I was standing next to Crouchie jeez he is tall. Seen Hoddle before kick off great to see him look so well. The Elfsborg fans where over in the far corner and I tell you now they know how to enjoy themselves, I spoke to a couple at half time whilst lining up for food and they said they were just happy to be in such an iconic stadium and knew they were not going to win. The game itself 1st half was a bit meh but it was to be expected, highlights where Moore & Sonny. 2nd half pretty much played in their half bar a few attacks. There was one moment when they could/should have scored but the guy went for the Hollywood finish. Bergval was unlucky with his diving header. Our first goal was brilliant from Dane and a superb cross from Kulu. Ajayi, what a goal made by him and a great lay off from Dane. Moore also made his goal, great hold up of the ball and then a fine strike. The fans were quite quiet 1st half there were a few chants of levy out but not much. Overall a great night once again at the Hotspur Stadium, I hope we have many more.

One last thing someone once famously quoted you can't win anything with kids.........................hmmmm I'm not so sure, COYS

I thought the atmosphere was really flat for what was quite an important game. I only get down to watch usually twice a year, and the atmosphere has never been as good as it used to be at The Lane. Maybe knocking down The Lane has severed fans’ connection with the club’s history and damaged the unity of purpose. I noticed none of the old songs are sung anymore.

My guess is it's got more to do with the feeling around the club for the last few years. The atmosphere at the new stadium can be absolutely phenomenal.
