Brexit Britain strikes again, isn't it. It's horrible to see how people who harbour racist thoughts have been emboldened by the rhetoric of the referendum, this happened so rarely pre-2016 and so frequently the last two years it cannot be a coincidence. The country is more divided than ever before and the political class of the country is to blame for letting it get this way.
"this happened so rarely pre-2016 " Seriously?? What about all the West Ham and Chelsea fans making hissing noises at Tottenham every chance they got over the last decade or so?

The country may be divided politically, but this is down to fucking morons doing fucking moronic shit, nothing else. Emboldened by the referendum my arse, that's just making excuses for **** behavior, like a different result would have meant anything to these people. Give me a break.

I agree, politically.

However, on this occasion it seems it's a genuine case of racists remarks/gestures.
We just don't know yet IMO until the people are interviewed. But essentialising racism as a property of racists, who emerge fully formed from nowhere, would have a parallel in refusing to accept the structural prejudice faced by eg black people in america as a contributing factor in hostility they might have to the dominant racial groups.

Time to go 433, play Sissoko as a defensive midfielder with Ndombele and Lo Celso either side of him. Then Son, Kane and one other person up top. Alli has been garbage bar about ten mins of football under Mourinho and I genuinely believe he is done as a top level footballer.

The game has changed a lot and very quickly and all of a sudden the talents that Alli has are no longer very good in this day and age. I would take Grealish or Cantwell over him in a second. A forward player who can dictate a game and control the ball. They are littered throughout the league with Maddison, Cantwell, Grealish, Mount etc etc.

I think the cause of racism is racists

Discount a plausible cause and you create the possibility for the behaviour continuing - you're ostriching here.

We’re not talking about someone having a strong stance on immigration or using an outdated phrase. We’re talking about someone racially abusing a young black man in public. The only cause is brain dead racism.

This is the same disjointed team we’ve ended up with every manager. We don’t buy the players we need. We buy players we can do a deal on.

We haven't heard audible monkey chanting as frequently as this since the worst days of hooliganism. Don't pretend things hadn't got better in the late 90s and 2000s, they absolutely had.

Anyway, I won't write any more in this thread, this is for the D&D forum.

The very small minority of racist c**** today do not represent Tottenham Hotspur in any way shape or form.

But they were clearly Tottenham supporters registered at the club. Racism will never end its become more obvious it got even worse on the roads- education education education

I tend to agree with you but that’s not how it will be portrayed in the press. Will will make every headline, every back page and probably in every country.

I feel quite positive that the headlines will not be “a few racists at Spurs”

I expect neg ratings and maybe this is emotion talking but...

Anyone else feeling like they have been conned by Jose's PR charm offensive?

Laid bare, we seemingly benefited from the classic new manager bounce but reality is we haven't played well in any game aside from Burnley.

I felt like Jose was brought in for the big occasions yet against both United and Chelsea we looked arguably worse than ever.

I get possession isn't always effective and under Poch it at times felt pointless but it feels like we have gone to the other extreme.

I genuinely can't remember one period of sustained pressure in any match under Jose.

I'm hoping it will come good but can't say I'm filled with much confidence, he is seemingly not learning from his mistakes which was the downfall of Poch.

everyone fears this but just has to push it to the back of their minds.

one thing is for sure if he thinks a midfield of Sissoko and Dier can control a game ahead of more technical players we are in trouble, any Spurs fan could have told him that midfield would struggle. Not because we're clever but because we've seen it.

Now he's seen it we should be OK.

This is probably close to the most disappointed I have felt after a lost. No desire from the start, no leadership, a stupid pen and even a more stupid red card against a very big rival. I don’t think any manager can fix or instil a mentality in the current players.

Im really at a lost for words with what youre saying. I give up.
Fine give up. Honestly thats fine.

I don't have big expectations. I am very happy we are now in the position to battle for forth. I'm very happy that our form would put us 3rd in the table and I feel that there have been lots of positive things. Including being able to score a lot of goals and all that. These a good things to work on. I am used to Tottenham being a midtable team who really played some absolute crap. I am still absolutely stunned that we are able to match clubs with way more resources than us, that we have matched them and improved on it.

If you just want football to be an outlet for the negativity in your life than suit yourself. But I am disappointed in it but am contextualising it within what has been a very good few games.

We beat Wolves at a time that they were the inform team in the league, unbeaten in 12 away from home. I would've taken a draw before hand but we fought well, conceded only half chances and took ours.

We thrashed Burnley as well as Bournemouth and West ham, only to concede late goals to make it seem closer than it was. Man utd was very disappointing and so was today. We definitely haven't found the right system to take the game to the better sides in the league. But if we continue with this point rate we would finish the season with 76 points. In the last 5 seasons that would be a 2nd Place, two 3rd Places and one 4th. In other words this is more or less the form we have been in before this season.

There are problems but we are not in a bad place at all, and we are in a position now where we can finish, yet again, in the top four.

You will not understand, or contribute to ending this phenomenon, by essentialising the cause of it into an abstract noun which stands outside the wider society and history. It has multiple, interacting causes, stretching back years, decades, etc.

Alli has been our best player since Mourinho came by far but today he was pance,as Son,Moura and Kane all were too
Sissoko actually was one of our better players today (its not saying much) but NDombele was brilliant when he came on
