TEAM FORM: Spurs - LWWWD ---- Chelsea - DWLWD -----(All Competitions)

We and Chelsea are in one of the headline ties of the Carabao Cup fourth round on Tuesday night.

Chelsea thrashed Championship strugglers Barnsley 6-0 last week courtesy of a brilliant Kai Havertz hat-trick, though their early Premier League form has been erratic with a home defeat to Liverpool followed by a six-goal thriller at newly-promoted West Brom in which they had to come back from 3-0 down at half-time to claim a last-gasp point.

They now make the short trip to face us where we are in the midst of a truly hectic run of fixtures and also face Maccabi Haifa and Manchester United in the coming days, leading manager Jose to admit that we cannot effectively compete in this competition.

We are entering the Carabao Cup at the fourth-round stage but have already played five games already this season and we are still be fuming after our controversial late top-flight draw against Newcastle on Sunday that led to more fury over the changes to the laws around handball.

We lost Son to a hamstring injury against Newcastle, with Jose warning that the influential forward's injury will be the first of many as a result of Tottenham's packed schedule. He looks set to heavily rotate our team, though returning hero Gareth Bale remains sidelined with a knee injury and Moussa Sissoko was absent on Sunday through illness. Versatile young defender Japhet Tanganga (thigh) is also still missing for us.

For Chelsea, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy looks poised to make his debut for the club following a £22million move from Rennes. The game is likely to come too soon for Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech as they close in on their respective returns, but Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi are both expected to start. Billy Gilmour remains out with a knee injury, while it seems unlikely that Thiago Silva will be asked to start three games in a week at 36. Much here will depend on the team Jose decides to field on Tuesday night.

A weakened XI should still be able to challenge a Chelsea team that remain inconsistent and possess obvious lingering defensive vulnerabilities, but a seriously understrength side could really struggle against an opposition likely to field several players with points to prove.

We have met on 166 previous occasions, with Chelsea boasting 72 wins to our 54. There have been 40 draws. Chelsea have won all of the last four meetings between us, including a 2-1 Premier League triumph at Stamford Bridge in February.

I only care about this game if we win.

Although it would be nice to beat these bastards after them losing the fa cup final is what screwed us fixture wise this season. Useless pricks.

Would love to win this evening because this is a cup we can win.

But Thursday and Sunday have to be the priorities I guess.

Would be nice if we could win it and will be interesting to see what Jose does with the team. However, Thursday and Sunday will be the priority.

No expectations for this. Interested in who he plays and I really only want to see Reguilon.

Nothing worse than going into a derby in a cup knowing that the squad are in such a predicament that the public message coming out of the club is 'we are simply going to turn up and wait for the final whistle'

As if football wasn't bad enough already!

Is there extra time or does it go penalties? Really want it done in 90 win or lose. Can't afford another 30 minutes this week.

EFL cup only has extra time in the semis/ final and was introduced last season so straight to pens

Sounding like no Dele which is a... worry. Our squad isn't deep enough to not have him play this one when we have Europa on Thursday and United on Sunday. Unless we're saving him for Thursday? (which also doesn't make sense)

Well, it'll be interesting to see how many people in this thread watch this after the comments after the last game about cancelling subscriptions, being finished with football and suchlike. Going by that it's going to be a bit tumbleweedy in here after kick-off :D

I fear we've not been given the chance to go out and give this our best shot, however also fear that we've been handed an excuse for going out on a plate too..
