Hate how our fans moan about us moving the ball around the defence like we haven't scored from these moves lately. Just relax it's a conte instruction.

Fans still don't get why we pass it around the back. We rotate it deep and quite slow in order to bait the other team out up the pitch to chase us, then a combo of two or three passes through can get our attackers running into space against their backline.

The problem is when teams, like today, don't take the bait. Fans are moaning that we go back but we're trying to get Brighton to push up and overcommit but they're not so far and this cat and mouse game will continue. When we do try and play into the front they have a packed midfield to block the passing lanes and if we hit it forward over the top they're covering every time.

I've said for weeks we need to find the solutions against packed defences once teams start to change the way they play against us due to the fear factor, and going forward need a different type of player or two comfortable operating between tight lines/in the final third, lets see how we do second half and if we can work it out.

Brighton are hard to play against as they flood the midfield. That’s why they are rubbish going forward. The ball goes into the box but all their players are in midfield still.

Tv watchers as usual missing loads. Royal has been fine and has been making runs and getting back defensively well. Been ignored when in space.

we can’t get Kane involved because they are marking his space well. Just need to adjust.
I’m watching on tv and can see he does keep making a run but for some reason is ignored. Dier and Bentacur had the ball on separate occasions and decided to go the other side

Looks like we're back to the horrible football when we lost to burnley, wolves and soton.

This isnt ending well. I hope I'm wrong
We were markedly more terrible in all of those games you mention. A cagey first half where a team has sat off us is not remotely the same pattern.

I’m not sure if it’s instructions, but we’re not even trying to play through the middle - presumably because of The extra Brighton midfielder. The effect is that everything is going predictably up the flanks - and neither wingback is playing particularly well, so we’re losing the ball before it can get to our front three. Effective tactics by Potter or just timidity from our defenders? Bentancur can’t get on the ball and no one else is willing to try a vertical pass. So it’s been the wingbacks losing the ball or aimless balls over the top.

I don't think we've been "terrible". We were certainly worse against Villa. We've been solid without much quality.

True, probably just terrible from an attacking point of view but we have had a level of control and defended well still. All that means very little though if you're playing in a way that is barely able to create a chance, or sustain any sort of pressure in the final third.

The good thing is that if we do manage to get the front 3 any bit involved, there's a very good chance we'll score but we have to do much better in trying to find them and get them involved.

Poor half from us buy. Brighton setup extremely well and we look somewhat stumped as to how to go about solving the problems they are posing. Kind of game where we could really do with the wingbacks carrying the ball upfield and look to try and stretch Brighton but neither really excel at that to honest.

GET A GRIP PEOPLE! Stop being so entitled. We are going to have off days. EVERY team has them. We've been spoilt with the amount of goals scored recently.
