Interesting we had less of the ball. Can't remember the last time that happened. Any tactics guys that cam give reasons what would be great. Wonder if it was intentionally

If we’re not gonna have 1v1 players to break down a low block, we have to play with bravery both in passing and run making. That was on show today, as was our fantastic pressing, which has been super impressive so far this season. This is the blueprint. Win the ball high and attack immediately. When faced with a low block, show personality, bravery, and creativity with the passes and runs. We created a ton from our high press, but when faced with Brentford’s rest defence, we still created. Hugely encouraging.

We were winning from 28 minutes - that will have a lot to do with it. And Brentford are a good possession team, almost has as much possession as city the other day.

We had less possession than Brentford but it didn’t feel like it.

And I think it’s because we didn’t wait to try and open them up, either we created a chance straight away or we immediately pressed them on the turnover.

It meant the game was played a lot in Brentford’s third.

All our goals came from turnovers and counters because it’s much easier to score when you have space and are attacking with momentum.

The best way to score is to create a bit of chaos.
Yeah this is why possession stats are so misleading and it's incorrect whenever fans point to it as a reason there team should have won..

If you had 60% possession but 30% of play was in your third and 50% in the middle, then it shows you spent a lot of time not doing much with it.

You could probably say we fit that scenario against Arsenal. Just couldn't really penetrate them

Whereas I think the stats versus Newcastle look much better as I recall we had loads of touches in their area.

Stats get misused by fans and pundits all the time. You have to combine them and use your eyes and context.

Which is why I have felt we've been better this season as the stats and eye test show a better picture. Ange has been right (bar Coventry game)

I think Brentford , unlike most of our recent opposition, engaged us higher up the pitch today. As opposed to sitting in a low block. This suited our game, as it gave us more space to build attacks quickly after turnovers.

On that note, our work rate was incredible today, we forced so many turnovers from Brentford.

I really enjoyed the game and even if they had got an equaliser at the end I would still have, not as much but still a great game . I thought everybody upped their game and Madison was back to his best. The only one I felt was below the rest was Vicario. I have to admit I've never been a fan so perhaps I take a more critical look but we have had some great keepers over the past years and to me he's probably the weakest we have ever had although he did make that first class save in the second half but there were to many blunders and he scares the shit out of me when he comes out. That apart a GREAT afternoon lets hope there are more to come.

I’d just like to say…. this is first game I’ve gone to in a long while plus I put Johnson and Solanke in my fantasy team before the game.

You are welcome.

Do you think the wingers in the Coventry game were told play the ball back unless a clear opening was on, I've seen a few Celtic goals under Ange where they do this and recycle it around the back four before setting up and scoring a virtually flawless move.

It seemed like Ange sacrificed a bit of possession today and went back to a similar style to last season with just a few tweaks, the wide playmaker role added another dimension, gave Maddison a chance to see more of the game in a less congested area.

If we assume, Kulu is still in CM next week with Maddison...

Who starts next week at United....Bissouma or Bentacur? (Who was very good today)
